International Forward Paloma Niz (175-F-1999) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Olimpia, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 24-year old player was the main contributor (19 points, five rebounds and three assists) to her team's victory, helping them to crush Libertad (#4, 2-4) with 17-point margin 84-67. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Olimpia maintains the 2nd position in Paraguayan Metropolitan League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Olimpia will need more victories to improve their 4-3 record. Niz turned to be Olimpia's top player in her first season with the team.
The second best player in last round's games was young international point guard Maria Perez (165-PG-1999) of Libertad. Perez had a very good evening with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Bad luck as Libertad lost that game 67-84 to slightly higher-ranked Olimpia (#2, 4-3). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Libertad still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-4 record. Perez is a newcomer at Libertad, but is already one of team's top players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 10.3ppg (#8). Her other stats are also decent: 6.5rpg and 5.2apg.
Third on the list of top players last round was Pamela Encina (2005) of Sol de Amer. (#3). Encina showcased her all-around game by recording 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the last round. She was a key player of Sol de Amer., leading her team to a 91-61 easy win against Deportivo SJ (#5, 0-6). Sol de Amer. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 3 lost games. Encina has a great season in Paraguay. After only 7 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.3ppg (2nd best), rebounds with 8.7rpg (#1 in league) and assists with 3.9apg (5th best).
Other top performing players last week:
4. Adela Cardenas (180-C-1999) of Olimpia - 16 points and 7 rebounds
5. Mabel Martinez (180-F-1986) of Olimpia - 18 points and 6 rebounds

9. Andrea Gomez (178-SF-1990) of Olimpia - 14 points and 2 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
