Nehemias Morillo gets MVP of the Week award for Paraguayan LNB (by Hoops Agents)- September 2, 2023
The 31-year old power forward had the game-high 25 points adding eight rebounds and six assists for Colonias in his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Campo Alto (#6, 0-5) with 27-point margin 92-65. Colonias maintains the 3rd position in Paraguayan LNB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. Colonias will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. In the team's last game Morillo had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 11 attempts. He turned to be Colonias' top player in his first season with the team. University of South Florida graduate has very impressive stats this year. Morillo is league's best scorer averaging so far 26.5ppg. Morillo is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 5.8rpg) and assists (6th best: 4.3apg). The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young international forward Adolfo Lopez (199-F-1989) of Libertad A.. Lopez impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 18 points and 16 rebounds. It was enough for Libertad A. to edge slightly higher-ranked Olimpia K. (#2, 4-2) by 6 points 91-85. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Libertad A. consolidated its place in top 4 of the standings. His team's 3-3 record is not bad at all. Lopez is a newcomer at Libertad A. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.3ppg (#3). He also registered 8.2 boards per game. The third best performed player last round was another Colonias' star - Juan Poison. Poison showcased his all-around game by recording 12 points, ten rebounds and four assists in the last round. He was another key player of Colonias, helping his team with a 92-65 easy win against Campo Alto (#6, 0-5). Colonias needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 2 lost games. Poison has a great season in Paraguay. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 14.8ppg (6th best), rebounds with 11.6rpg (2nd best) and assists with 5.2apg (3rd best).
