(7-3) 85-84 in the fight for the second place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Olimpia K.. The winners were led by Dominican Nehemias Morillo (197-1992, college: S.Florida) who scored that evening 23 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and Lucas Landi supported him with 18 points. Even 30 points and 7 rebounds by American guard Charles Hinkle (198-1988, college: American, agency: AG Sports Solutions) did not help to save the game for Olimpia K.. Fifth ranked Felix Perez (3-7) got a very close victory on the road over one of their biggest challengers Libertad A. (4-6). Felix Perez managed to escape with a 3-point win 72-69 on Thursday evening. The best player for the winners was Stan Scott who had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Adolfo Lopez produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the hosts. Libertad A.'s coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Felix Perez maintains fifth position with 3-7 record. Libertad A. at the other side keeps the fourth place with six games lost.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 8: bottom-ranked Campo Alto won against Felix Perez on the opponent's court 76-66. Libertad A. unfortunately lost to Colonias in a home game 74-86. San Jose rolled over Campo Alto on the road 108-58. Colonias defeated Felix Perez on its own court 83-71.

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Asuncion where 5th ranked Felix Perez (3-7) was defeated by bottom-ranked Campo Alto (1-9) 76-66 on Monday. Campo Alto looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Argentinian point guard Mauro Gauna (186-1999) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 assists. San Jose dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Campo Alto's 34. San Jose forced 25 Campo Alto turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Campo Alto's players. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Fernando Dose (200-1994) who scored 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Argentinian forward Franco Benitez (199-1994) chipped in 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists.
