The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Olimpia (2-1) in Asuncion on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Felix Perez (3-0) 64-59. Felix Perez forced 20 Olimpia turnovers. It was a great evening for the former international guard Ximena Ibarra (172-2001) who led her team to a victory scoring 12 points and 7 rebounds. The former international center Ana Britez (174-2002) helped adding 11 points and 9 rebounds. Felix Perez's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Gabriela Bernal (-2007) with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Felix Perez will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Olimpia will play against Ciudad Nueva and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Very significant was Sol de Amer.'s (#6) 26-point road victory against Ciudad Nueva 78-52. It was an exceptional evening for Maria Godoy who led the winners and scored 20 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 8 steals. Ana Doldan accounted for 14 points and 5 rebounds. Sol Piris came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for Ciudad Nueva in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sol de Amer. will play against Deportivo SJ in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ciudad Nueva will play against Olimpia (#3) in Asuncion and hopes to get finally their first victory.
