Benitez number one in Paraguay Metropolitan League for round 3 (by Hoops Agents)

Guard Jael Benitez (163-G-2003) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Deportivo San Jose, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 20-year old player was the main contributor (9 points, four rebounds and thirteen assists) to her team's victory, helping them to outclass Colonias (#4, 1-2) with 31-point margin 75-44. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Deportivo SJ is placed at 2nd position in Paraguayan Metropolitan League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Deportivo SJ will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. Benitez just recently signed at Deportivo SJ, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Jael Benitez has solid league stats. She is in league's top in assists (2nd best: 6.7apg) and averages impressive 2.3spg.

The second best player in last round's games was Maria Godoy of Sol de America Asuncion. Godoy had a very good evening with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Of course she led Sol de Amer. to another comfortable win outscoring Ciudad Nueva (0-3) 78-52. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Godoy is one of the most experienced players at Sol de Amer. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.0ppg (#1). Her other stats are also decent: 5.0rpg and 6.0apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was Gabriela Bernal (2007) of Olimpia Asuncion (#3). Bernal showcased her all-around game by recording 10 points, 15 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. Despite Bernal's great performance the Olimpia lost 59-64 to #1 ranked Felix Perez. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Olimpia needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 2 victories and 1 lost game. Bernal has a great season in Paraguay. After only 3 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.3ppg (4th best) and rebounds with 13.3rpg (#1 in league).
