Gabriela Bernal gets MVP of the Week award for Paraguayan Metropolitan League

Talented Gabriela Bernal (2007) had a great game in the last round for Olimpia Asuncion and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 4.
The 16-year old had the game-high 8 points adding eight rebounds and two assists for Olimpia in her team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Ciudad Nueva (#6, 0-4) with 32-point margin 75-43. Olimpia maintains the 3rd position in Paraguayan Metropolitan League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Olimpia will need more victories to improve their 3-1 record. Bernal just recently signed at Olimpia, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Bernal has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (4th best: 13.5ppg) and averages solid 3.0bpg and 51.1% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was Uruguayan Paula Moreira of Sol de America Asuncion. Moreira impressed basketball fans with 15 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Sol de Amer. was edged by slightly higher-ranked Deportivo SJ (#2, 3-1) 62-58. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Sol de Amer. still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-3 record. Moreira is a newcomer at Sol de Amer. and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 11.5ppg (#9). She also registered 6.0 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was another Sol de Amer.'s star - Venus Brizuela. Brizuela scored 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Despite Brizuela's great performance the Sol de America Asuncion lost 58-62 to #2 ranked Deportivo SJ. But her team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of Sol de Amer. ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 3 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Brizuela could help Sol de Amer. to bring them higher in the standings. Brizuela has a very solid season. In 5 games in Paraguay she scored 5.2ppg.
