Benitez number one in Paraguay LNB for round 9

Argentinian Forward Franco Benitez (199-F-1994) had a great game in the last round for top-ranked Deportivo San Jose Asuncion, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 30-year old player had a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Libertad A. (#5, 3-5) 77-70. It allowed San Jose to consolidate first place in the Paraguayan LNB. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. It's already very far into the season and San Jose keeps a perfect 7-0 record. In the team's last game Benitez had a remarkable 54.5% from 2-point range. It's his second year at San Jose and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Franco Benitez has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 19.8ppg. Benitez is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 6.5rpg) and averages impressive 62.3% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was Argentinian Juan Cantero of league's second-best Olimpia Kings. Cantero had a very good evening with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. It was enough for Olimpia K. to edge slightly lower-ranked Felix Perez (#4, 3-5) 84-79. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Olimpia K. consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. His team's 6-2 record is not bad at all. Cantero is a newcomer at Olimpia K., but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Octavio Caputo of Sol de America Asuncion (#7). Caputo scored 17 points. Despite Caputo's great performance the Sol de America lost 70-83 to slightly higher-ranked Ciudad N. (#6, 2-5). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Sol de America can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 7 games. Caputo has a very solid season. In 7 games in Paraguay he scored 9.1ppg.
