The most exciting game of round 14 in the LNB took place in Asuncion. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Libertad (5-7) to third ranked Colonias (8-4) 81-80 on Sunday evening. Colonias made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Colonias outrebounded Libertad 44-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. International center Juan Poisson (198-1998) saved the victory by scoring 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Andres Valencia contributed with 7 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Jorge Sequera (194-1988) replied with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for Libertad. Libertad A.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Colonias have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 8-4 record having just one point less than leader San Jose. Libertad at the other side keeps the fifth place with seven games lost.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Asuncion: Olimpia K. (#2) and Ciudad N. (#6). Olimpia K. (10-2) smashed visiting Ciudad N. (2-9) by 45 points 109-64. Argentinian Fabio Gauto (190-2002) scored 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Rodney Mercado chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Olimpia K.'s coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cristian Deleon responded with 7 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Olimpia K. have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 10-2 record having just one point less than leader San Jose. Ciudad N. lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with nine games lost.
Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Asuncion: San Jose (#1) and Sol de America (#7). San Jose (10-1) smashed visiting Sol de America (0-12) by 62 points 125-63. Dishon Lowery notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort. Even 18 points by Alejandro Acosta did not help to save the game for Sol de America. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first position with 10-1 record. Loser Sol de America still closes the standings with 12 games lost.





Colonias - Libertad A. 81-80

Olimpia K. outrebounded Ciudad N. 57-36 including a 40-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olimpia K. players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Ciudad N.'s players. Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Asuncion: San Jose (#1) and Sol de America (#7). San Jose (10-1) smashed visiting Sol de America (0-12) by 62 points 125-63. San Jose dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Sol de America's 26 and had 20 for 27 from the free-throw line, while Sol de America only scored four points from the stripe. They outrebounded Sol de America 49-17 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. San Jose looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American center Dishon Lowery (200-1998, college: OKBU) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the former international forward Alejandro Peralta (195-1991, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Five San Jose players scored in double figures. Even 18 points by Alejandro Acosta did not help to save the game for Sol de America.
