LNB Round 1 (Regular Season): Amambay takes a leadership position

The Regular Season in LNB just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Amambay defeated Guairena at home 86-75. Amambay forced 25 Guairena turnovers. Brazilian guard Osmar Ventura (190-2004) stepped up and scored 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Brazilian Edegar Alvarenga chipped in 16 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Amambay's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Diego Ortega responded with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 11 rebounds. Guairena will play next round against strong San Jose trying to get back on the winning streak. Amambay will try to continue on its current victory against San Jose in Asuncion.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Ciudad N. in Asuncion. Hosts were rolled over by San Jose 87-53. International forward Franco Benitez (199-1994) nailed 15 points for the winning side and Sebastian Picton accounted for 15 points. Francisco Bogarin came up with 14 points for Ciudad N. in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. San Jose will play against Guairena in the next round. Ciudad N.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Asuncion to the arena Felix Perez.
Quite upsetting was Luqueno's 26-point home defeat in a game versus Olimpia K. who smashed hosts Edgar Riveros fired 21 points and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Santiago Peralta produced 16 points for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Olimpia K. will meet at home San Alfonso in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Luqueno will play against Colonias and hope to win that game.

In the last two games of round 1 winless Central lost to undefeated San Alfonso on the opponent's court 67-123. Colonias outscored Campo Alto in a home game 96-67.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 20 points and 10 rebounds by Alen Juarez of Colonias.



Ciudad N. - San Jose 53-87

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Ciudad N. in Asuncion. Hosts were rolled over by San Jose 87-53. San Jose dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Ciudad N.'s 30. San Jose forced 20 Ciudad N. turnovers. Argentinian forward Tobias Gomez chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. San Alfonso used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from 123-67 on Thursday night. San Alfonso dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Central's 34. San Alfonso forced 20 Central turnovers and outrebounded them 56-39 including a 41-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. San Alfonso looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when San Alfonso made 7 blocks. Argentinian guard Nicolas Reyero (183-2004) fired 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. The former international Maxsuel Roque chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks. Elias Sanchez produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and Miguel Gomez added 20 points respectively for lost side. Five San Alfonso and four Central players scored in double figures. Central's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. San Alfonso will meet Olimpia K. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Central will play against Colonias and hope to win that game.

Colonias used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Asuncion 96-67 on Saturday night. Colonias dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Campo Alto's 34. Colonias forced 20 Campo Alto turnovers and outrebounded them 54-25 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. International center Alen Juarez (201-2000) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Stanley Scott chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds. Colonias' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Kal Godans produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and Pedro Caballero (-2000) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Colonias and four Campo Alto players scored in double figures. Colonias will meet Central in the next round. Campo Alto will play against Central and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
