The biggest surprise of round 2 in LNB took place in Asuncion where host San Jose crushed Amambay 109-80 on Monday evening. San Jose dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Amambay's 28. They outrebounded Amambay 43-29 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. San Jose looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Ramon Sanchez (194-1991) who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. The former international forward Gabriel Peralta (203-1995) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Leonardo Ycassatti (188-2003) produced 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Amambay will play next round against strong Ciudad N. trying to make it back to the top of the standings. San Jose will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.

The former international Rodney Mercado (191-1999) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 5 rebounds. Jorge Martinez contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Asuncion: Felix Perez and Ciudad N.. Felix Perez smashed visiting Ciudad N. by 31 points 94-63. Abraham Mercado scored 24 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners. Francisco Bogarin responded with 15 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
