The Second Stage in LNB just started. Host teams show no mercy winning all games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Third defeat of league's leader Colonias against San Jose 87-76 was the most important game of the last round. San Jose made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Rashad Hassan (203-1989, college: SSU) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international forward Gabriel Peralta (203-1995) contributed with 18 points for the winners. San Jose's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International center Juan Poisson (198-1998) answered with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for Colonias. Colonias will play next round against strong Olimpia K. trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion - Olimpia K.. San Jose will try to continue on its current victory against Felix Perez. It will be extra interesting game as Felix Perez is their local rival from Asuncion.
Olimpia K. defeated Felix Perez in Asuncion 86-74. American-Mexican forward Daviyon Draper (200-1994, college: FIU) stepped up and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Jeremiah Wood chipped in 22 points and 10 rebounds. Olimpia K.'s coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Argentinian Aaron Pablo (200-2000) responded with 27 points and 6 rebounds. Felix Perez will play next round against strong San Jose trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion - San Jose. In the last two games of round 1 Luqueno was beaten by Campo Alto on the road 67-59. Guairena destroyed San Alfonso on its own court 89-53.



Amambay - Ciudad N. 80-77

A very close game took place in (derby !!!) between Amambay and Ciudad N.. Amambay got a very close home victory over Ciudad N.. Amambay managed to escape with a 3-point win 80-77 in the fight for the sixth place. Hugo Ramos nailed 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and Brazilian guard Osmar Ventura (190-2004) accounted for 10 points and 14 rebounds. Four Amambay players scored in double figures. Elias Martinez came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and Venezuelan Eduardo Rios (198-1988) added 10 points and 17 rebounds respectively for Ciudad N. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Amambay will meet Luqueno on the road in the next round. Ciudad N. will play against San Alfonso and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Campo Alto - Luqueno 67-59

No shocking result in a game when Campo Alto beat Luqueno in Asuncion 67-59 on Friday. Carlos Dos Santos nailed a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Jefferson Arguello accounted for 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Campo Alto's coach let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Luis Sosa came up with 14 points and 9 rebounds and Oscar Toro added 15 points respectively for Luqueno in the defeat. Campo Alto will meet at home Guairena in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Luqueno will play against Amambay and hope to secure a win.

Guairena - San Alfonso 89-53

Rather expected game when San Alfonso was smashed on the road by Guairena 89-53 on Sunday. Guairena dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to San Alfonso's 30. Guairena forced 22 San Alfonso turnovers and outrebounded them 43-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. Luis Molas nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side and Diego Ortega accounted for 24 points and 8 rebounds. Guairena's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international Maxsuel Roque came up with 8 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Argentinian guard Nicolas Reyero (183-2004) added 11 points and 5 assists respectively for San Alfonso in the defeat. Guairena will meet Campo Alto in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. San Alfonso will play against Ciudad N. in Asuncion and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
