LNB Round 2 (Regular Season): Luqueno lose to San Alfonso

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in LNB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Luqueno recorded a loss on the court of San Alfonso on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by San Alfonso 76-68. San Alfonso forced 19 Luqueno turnovers. The best player for the winners was American Desmond Holloway (194-1990, college: Coastal) who scored 30 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Henry Leiva chipped in 19 points and 6 assists. Joao Lima produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. San Alfonso's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in to the arena .
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Asuncion: Colonias and Ciudad N.. Ciudad N. was smashed at home by 24 points 57-81 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Diego Silva orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 8 rebounds. Alen Juarez contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Elias Martinez replied with 21 points and 5 rebounds for Ciudad N.The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Colonias' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Asuncion to the arena Felix Perez.
Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Asuncion: Olimpia K. and Campo Alto. Campo Alto was smashed at home by 38 points 45-83 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Jeremiah Wood had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Olimpia K.'s coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Juan Marti responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Olimpia K. will meet Amambay in the next round where they are favorite. Campo Alto will play against Luqueno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 2 winless Amambay lost to undefeated San Jose in Asuncion 74-98.



San Jose - Amambay 98-74

There was no surprise in Asuncion where Amambay was crushed by San Jose 98-74 on Wednesday. San Jose dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Amambay's 20 and made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. San Jose forced 19 Amambay turnovers. Argentinian forward Sebastian Picton (197-1992) scored 24 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international forward Franco Benitez (199-1994) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four San Jose players scored in double figures. Hugo Ramos responded with 27 points and naturalized Brazilian Edegar Alvarenga scored 7 points and 10 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. San Jose's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion Ciudad N..

Campo Alto was smashed at home by 38 points 45-83 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Olimpia K. held Campo Alto to an opponent 22.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Olimpia K. had a 35-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. American power forward Jeremiah Wood (201-1985) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Alejandro Peralta (195-1991) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest.
