LNB Round 3 (Regular Season): Colonias hand first loss to Felix Perez

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Felix Perez (1-1) in Asuncion on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by Colonias (3-0) 75-72. It was a good game for international center Alen Juarez (201-2000) who led his team to a victory with 27 points and 9 rebounds. International center Juan Poisson (198-1998) contributed with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Colonias' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. It was a great evening for American forward Danjel Purifoy (201-1995, college: Auburn, agency: Helping Ballers) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. Alejandro Peralta helped adding 17 points. The best for the losing side was Brazilian guard Osmar Ventura (190-2004) with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The game between San Jose (3-0) and Ciudad N. (0-3) in Asuncion on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. San Jose outscored guests from Asuncion 81-56. It was a quality performance for Franco Benitez who led the winners and scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Diego Ortega came up with 23 points for Ciudad N. in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. In the last game of round 3 Campo Alto beat Luqueno on the road 74-58.

There was a small surprise when Campo Alto (1-2) beat on the road Luqueno (0-2) 74-58 on Saturday. Campo Alto forced 20 Luqueno turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for the former international center Guillermo Araujo (204-1982) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Karl Godans (190) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Oscar Toro came up with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Jaime Zaracho added 10 points respectively for Luqueno in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Campo Alto will meet at home San Alfonso (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Luqueno will play against Amambay and hopes to get finally their first victory.
