Gabriel Riveiro gets MVP of the Week award for Paraguayan LNB

Gabriel Riveiro had a very impressive game in the last round for Deportivo Amambay and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The had the game-high 27 points adding five rebounds and six assists for Amambay in his team's victory, helping them to outclass San Alfonso (#4, 2-2) with 33-point margin 108-75. Amambay is placed at 5th position in Paraguayan LNB. Amambay is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-3 record. In the team's last game Riveiro had a remarkable 78.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Amambay's top player in his first season with the team. Gabriel Riveiro averages this season 14.8ppg and 6.0rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Argentinian power forward Nelson Peralta (195-PF-1992) of Atletico Ciudad Nueva. Peralta impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 17 rebounds. It was enough for Ciudad N. to edge Luqueno (#9, 0-4) by 2 points 69-67. This victory allowed Ciudad N. to leave bottom place moving a little bit up to 8th position in the standings. 4 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Ciudad N. managed to get this year. Peralta is a newcomer at Ciudad N. and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

The third best performed player last round was another Amambay's star - Brazilian Osmar Ventura (190-G-2004). Ventura showcased his all-around game by recording 18 points, 11 rebounds (!!!) and 5 assists in the last round. He was another key player of Deportivo Amambay, helping his team with a 108-75 easy win against slightly higher-ranked San Alfonso (#4, 2-2). The chances of Amambay ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 3 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Ventura could help Amambay to bring them higher in the standings. Ventura has a great season in Paraguay. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.6ppg (8th best) and rebounds with 8.2rpg (6th best).
