LNB Round 7 (Regular Season): Ciudad N. is defeated by Campo Alto in a derby game

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Asuncion: Campo Alto (#7) and Ciudad N. (#8). Campo Alto (2-4) won against visiting Ciudad N. (1-6) 92-81. Campo Alto made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Ciudad N. turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Ciudad N. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for guard Karl Godans (190) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 5 rebounds. Jefferson Arguello helped adding 12 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. At the losing side Elias Martinez responded with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Newly promoted Campo Alto maintains seventh place with 2-4 record. Ciudad N. at the other side keeps the eighth position with six games lost. Campo Alto's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Asuncion to the arena Felix Perez.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Asuncion: Olimpia K. (#1) and San Jose (#3). Olimpia K. (7-0) won against visiting San Jose (4-2) 86-80. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Charles Hinkle (198-1988, college: American) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 5 rebounds. Tobias Gomez accounted for 15 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American swingman Austin Wrighten (192-1996, college: Lynchburg) came up with 18 points and 5 assists for San Jose in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Olimpia K. have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 7-0 record. San Jose at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. Olimpia K.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Asuncion to the arena .
Bottom-ranked Luqueno (0-6) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to second ranked Colonias (5-1) 103-53 on Monday evening. Tiago Tischler fired 13 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Magno Farias produced 17 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Colonias maintains second place with 5-1 record having just three points less than leader Olimpia K. Luqueno lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Colonias will meet at home San Alfonso (#6) in the next round. Luqueno will play against San Jose in Asuncion and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 7 Felix Perez won against San Alfonso on the opponent's court 74-58.



Campo Alto - Ciudad N. 92-81

There was a minor upset when 4th placed San Alfonso (3-3) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Felix Perez (3-3) 74-58 on Monday. Felix Perez outrebounded San Alfonso 47-35 including 35 on the defensive glass. American Dominique Morrison (198-1989, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) fired 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Strings Anthony chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. Alejandro Acosta produced 18 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and American Desmond Holloway (194-1990, college: Coastal) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Felix Perez moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Amambay and San Alfonso. Felix Perez's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion Campo Alto.
