The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Olimpia K. (13-1) in Asuncion on Monday night. Visitors were rolled over by third ranked Colonias (10-2) 113-62. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Olimpia K.. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Colonias dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Olimpia K.'s 36. Colonias forced 20 Olimpia K. turnovers and outrebounded them 45-27 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. However their fans expected easier game. It was a great evening for naturalized Brazilian Edegar Alvarenga who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 5 rebounds. Osmar Ventura helped adding 14 points and 7 rebounds. Amambay's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was the former international center Guillermo Araujo (204-1982) with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Amambay have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 8-6 record. Newly promoted Campo Alto keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Amambay will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 13th consecutive match to fifth ranked Felix Perez (7-6) 105-66 on Tuesday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Leandro Ferreira who led the winners and scored 15 points. Oscar Toro came up with 19 points for Luqueno in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Felix Perez maintains fifth place with 7-6 record. Luqueno at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Felix Perez will meet at home San Alfonso (#6) in the next round. Luqueno will play against the league's second-placed Colonias and hopes to get finally their first victory.
