Martinez number one in Paraguay LNB for round 5

International Point guard Jorge Martinez (178-PG-1998) had a very impressive game in the last round for Deportivo San Jose Asuncion, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (18 points, five rebounds and five assists) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass San Alfonso (#8, 1-4) with 29-point margin 100-71. San Jose maintains the 3rd position in Paraguayan LNB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. San Jose will need more victories to improve their 3-1 record. In the team's last game Martinez had a remarkable four three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He just recently signed at San Jose, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Jorge Martinez averages this season 11.8ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Argentinian Juan Luis Abeiro (200-C/F-1988) of Felix Perez Cardozo Asuncion. Abeiro had a very good evening with a double-double of 23 points and 15 rebounds. Bad luck as Felix Perez lost that game 77-84 to slightly higher-ranked Campo Alto (2-3). This loss caused Felix Perez to drop to 6th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-3 record. Abeiro is one of the most experienced players at Felix Perez and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.4ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 10.4rpg and 3.4apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was Argentinian forward Nelson Peralta (195-PF-1992) of Atletico Ciudad Nueva (#7). Peralta scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (!!!). Despite Peralta's great performance the Ciudad N. lost 58-80 to the higher-ranked Amambay (#4, 3-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Ciudad N. can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-4 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Peralta has a very solid season. In 5 games in Paraguay he scored 7.8ppg.
