Abeiro's double-double lands him Player of the Week award

37-year old Argentinian Juan Luis Abeiro (200-C/F-1988) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Felix Perez Cardozo Asuncion and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 13.
He had a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Amambay (#5, 6-7) 92-81. Felix Perez maintains the 4th position in Paraguayan league. Felix Perez is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-6 record. Abeiro just recently signed at Felix Perez, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Abeiro has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 25.3ppg and leads league in rebounds with 11.1rpg. Abeiro is in league's top in assists (4th best: 4.0apg) and averages solid 63.5% FGP and 47.6% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Ramon Sanchez (194-F-1991) of top-ranked Deportivo San Jose Asuncion. He is international forward in his 8th season at San Jose. In the last game Sanchez recorded an impressive 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. It was enough for San Jose to edge the lower-ranked Campo Alto (#6, 4-9) by 6 points 111-105. Of course San Jose still keep the league's top spot. His team belongs to top of the standings with 11-1 record and is considered one of the main candidates for the league title. Sanchez is one of the most experienced players at San Jose and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to Victor Da Costa of Deportivo Amambay (#5). Da Costa scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds (!!!). Despite Da Costa's great performance the Amambay lost 81-92 to slightly higher-ranked Felix Perez (#4, 7-6). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Amambay ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 7 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Da Costa could help Amambay to bring them higher in the standings. Da Costa has a great season in Paraguay. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.5rpg (7th best).
