LNB Round 14 (Regular Season): Campo Alto is defeated by Colonias in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Asuncion: Colonias (#3) and Campo Alto (#6). Colonias (10-3) smashed visiting Campo Alto (4-10) by 24 points 82-58. Colonias outrebounded Campo Alto 42-28 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Colonias looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Argentinian Hans Feder scored 21 points to lead the charge for the winners and Diego Silva chipped in 13 points and 8 assists during the contest. Colonias' coach Juan Bidarra felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Argentinian guard Nicolas Reyero (183-2004) responded with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Colonias maintains third position with 10-3 record having just two points less than leader San Jose. Campo Alto lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with ten games lost.

Ciudad N. was defeated at home 77-83 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Argentinian Fabio Gauto (190-2002) notched 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Ricardo Sarubbi supported him with 14 points. Felix Perez's coach Lucas Aballone allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by the former international forward Jorge Sequera (194-1988) did not help to save the game for Ciudad N.. Felix Perez have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 8-6 record. Ciudad N. lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 12 games lost.
LNB top team - San Jose (12-1) managed to deliver another win on Thursday. This time they beat fifth ranked Amambay (6-8) 95-85. The best player for the winners was Robin Perry who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. San Jose's coach Daniel Cano used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Osmar Do Amaral produced a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds for the hosts. San Jose have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-1 record. Amambay at the other side keeps the fifth place with eight games lost.

In the last game of round 14 Olimpia K. destroyed San Alfonso on the opponent's court 98-49.




Amambay - San Jose 85-95

LNB top team - San Jose (12-1) managed to deliver another win on Thursday. This time they beat fifth ranked Amambay (6-8) 95-85. The best player for the winners was Robin Perry who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. The former international point guard Jorge Martinez (178-1998) chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. San Jose's coach Daniel Cano used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Osmar Do Amaral produced a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and Victor Da Costa added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five San Jose and four Amambay players scored in double figures. San Jose have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-1 record. Amambay at the other side keeps the fifth place with eight games lost.

San Alfonso - Olimpia K. 49-98

Very expected game when 8th ranked San Alfonso (1-13) was crushed at home by second ranked Olimpia K. (12-2) 98-49 on Thursday. Olimpia K. dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to San Alfonso's 16. Olimpia K. forced 26 San Alfonso turnovers and outrebounded them 39-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Olimpia K. looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by San Alfonso's players. The best player for the winners was American power forward Jeremiah Wood (201-1985) who scored 18 points. The other American import guard Tyree Ihenacho (193-2002, college: Washington, agency: Helping Ballers) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Hugo Cataldi produced 10 points and 6 rebounds and Fabricio Nunez added 11 points respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olimpia K. have a solid three-game winning streak.
