Regatas Lima earned the Liga Nacional
title. They overcame Real Club in the championship series. Regatas claimed a
decisive 101:86 victory in the fifth game of the title series.
Tracy Robinson (201-F-86, college:
Loyola, IL) unleashed 38 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to pace the
hosts.
Regatas ensured a very strong start to the game. They dropped 29 points in
the opening quarter and gained a 12-point lead. Regatas extended their lead
in the second quarter. They arrived at halftime up by as many as 19 points
57:38. But Real Club stuck around throughout the third term. The visitors
narrowed the deficit at just 8 points heading into the fourth frame. Regatas
responded with a 23-point effort in the final quarter to seal the victory.
Howard Crawford finished with 15 points, while
Alejandro Bellatin (188-F) and
Juan Carlos Calderon (185-G) contributed 13 points each for the winners.
Fernando Fung (179-G) answered with 19 points for Real Club.
Darnell Evans (192-G-84, college:
Queens, NC) accounted for 18 points and 9 rebounds in the loss.

Real Club are the Liga de Lima champions. They overcame Regatas Lima in the exciting Finals series. The decisive victory came in the fifth game. Real Club and Regatas stayed close throughout the entire game. But the hosts were just better at the end clinching a narrow 76:70 victory at the end. Dallas Hunter (196-G-87, agency: Gamble Sports Management, college: Tex.A&M-Comm.) was named the MVP. Both Real Club and Regatas will now prepare for the National League action that starts in August.
