Damion James
Guaros de Lara (LPB) signed 29-year old American forward Damion James (201-102kg-87, college: Texas). He played this summer at Cangrejeros de Santurce in Puerto Rican BSN league. James managed to play in four leagues in three countries last year (!!!). In 47 BSN games he had very impressive stats: 18.6ppg, 10.4rpg, 2.6apg, 1.2spg and 1.1bpg. He helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. They also advanced to the league semifinals. Quite impressive season as he was voted Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSN Player of the Year, Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSN Imported Player of the Year and Forward of the Year. James ended the last season at Kings in NBL where in 5 games he recorded 7.0ppg and 7.8rpg. But the most of that year he spent at Le Mans in ProA. In 6 games he averaged 6.7ppg and 3.0rpg. James also played 5 games in Eurocup where he got 6.6ppg and 5.0rpg.
In 2010 James was drafted by Atlanta Hawks (NBA) in first round (24th overall). The former University of Texas standoutis in his seventh season in pro basketball.
James won D-League West Conference championship title in 2013.
He has played on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Australia and of course North America). James has played previously professionally in Philippines (Alaska Aces), NBA (Denver Nuggets, Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards and San Antonio Spurs) and D-League (Texas Legends, Bakersfield Jam and Los Angeles D-Fenders).
He could be described: (by Adam Ganeles for NBADraft.net in 2010)
Takes a few power dribbles to his right or left and gets great lift on his shot ... Combined with a high release, his jumper is virtually unblockable ... Prefers to face up opponents in the post and elevate over the top. Ball handling needs further development. Appears very insecure when putting the ball on the deck. Rarely attacks all the way to the cup when being guarded

BSN Round 4: Piratas edge Brujos by three points - 2 days ago
There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games, games ending by tiny margin and even winless team recording their first victory. Here is the last round review presented by ESL. The most exciting game of round 4 in the BSN took place in Guayama. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Brujos (2-5) to first ranked Piratas (6-1) 89-86 on Thursday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The g...   [read more]

David Huertas selected the top Puerto Rican playing abroad in last week's games - 3 days ago
We bring you last week's top performances from Puerto Ricans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. This week's number one is an international swingman David Huertas (195-87). He could not help Fuerza Regia (31-9) in their last game. Despite Huertas' very good performance the first-placed Fuerza Regia (31-9) was edged 85-84 on the road by the lower-ranked (#3) Lenadores in the North group.    [read more]
