BSN Finals:
Santurce 4, Ponce 0:

Cangrejeros de Santurce swept Leones easily in four games thanks to Finals MVP Carlos Arroyo who averaged 21.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists in those four games. Santurce played the finals without center Jose Ortiz because hehad a right ankle injury.
The defense was the key in this series as they held Ponce's Eddie Casiano to an average of 16.2 points per game.
Monty Wilson also was big on offense averging 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds.
In the first game of the finals, Ponce had the advantage almost the whole game but Edwin Santiago came down with a left ankle injury after stealing a pass for Carlos Arroyo in the third quarter and changed the momentum back to Santurce. Santurce won by the final of 84-76. In the first game, Arroyo scored 18 points and 6 assists. For Ponce, Eddie Casiano and Anthony Bonner combined for 20 points apiece.
The second game in Ponce was a big challenge for Santurce, as they went to JUuan 'Pachin' Vicens Auditorium in front of more than 12,000 screaming Ponce fans but Julio Toro and Cangrejeros were not intimidated and got a 85-72 win. From the second quarter, Santurce established their game and disrupted Ponce's offense leaving only two scorers in double figures. Carlos Arroyo led Santurce again with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. For Ponce, Eddie Casiano had 22 and Orlando Vega 16.
The third game was an easy one at home against Ponce as they held Casiano to only two points. James Forrest made his debut with Ponce and only scored 2 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Santurce used the whole bench and Arroyo scored 20 points in 27 minutes. Monty Wilson scored 16 points and Orlando Santiago netted 13 points.
The fourth game was a very close and fought game but Carlos Arroyo penetrated with just seconds left and got fouled as he hitted a lay up to tie the game and got the free throw to put Santurce up by one point and the game ended by the final of 82-81. Arroyo ended as the finals MVP and scored 23 points, grabbed 6 boards and gave 6 assists. For Ponce, Eddie Casiano scored 21 points, Bobby Joe Hatton scored 19 points, Anthony Bonner got 18 points and 15 boards and Javier Colon scored 11 points.
Santurce saw consistent offense from Monty Wilson who scored 20 points in the final game. Also the bench was a factor as Alex Falcon averaged 10.1 points and Edgar Padilla averaged 10.0 points.
