Damion James
Hapoel Eilat (Winner League) inked 30-year old American forward Damion James (201-102kg-87, college: Texas). He played in the summer at Cariduros de Fajardo in Puerto Rican BSN league. In 48 games he averaged 13.6ppg, 7.9rpg, 2.2apg and 1.1spg. James helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. They also advanced to the league semifinals. A very good season in his career as he League Player of the Week.
The most of last season he spent at Toros in Mexican LNBP where in 14 games he had very impressive stats: 18.9ppg, 6.4rpg, 3.1apg and 1.0spg. It was a very successful season in his career as he League Player of the Week. James also spent pre-season at Guaros (LPB) in Venezuelan league that year.
In 2010 he was drafted by Atlanta Hawks (NBA) in first round (24th overall). The former University of Texas standoutis in his eighth season in pro basketball. James' team won InterContinental Cup.
He received USBWA All-District VII Player of the Year award back in 2010 at his college time.
James is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to six different countries on five different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, Australia and of course North America). James has played previously professionally in Australia (Kings), France (Le Mans), Philippines (Alaska Aces), NBA (Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards and San Antonio Spurs) and NBA G League (Texas Legends, Northern Arizona Suns and South Bay Lakers).
His game is described as: (by Adam Ganeles for NBADraft.net in 2010)
Takes a few power dribbles to his right or left and gets great lift on his shot ... Combined with a high release, his jumper is virtually unblockable ... Prefers to face up opponents in the post and elevate over the top. Ball handling needs further development. Appears very insecure when putting the ball on the deck. Rarely attacks all the way to the cup when being guarded
