Bayamon - Arecibo 87-84

Bayamon outgunned Arecibo in the championship series opener. The hosts trailed by 15 points after three quarters before their 31-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Capitanes outrebounded Vaqueros 38-23 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Javier Mojica (190-84, college: Cent.Conn.St.) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 7 assists. Nigerian-American power forward Ikechukwu Diogu (204-83, college: Arizona St.) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists and Nigerian-American power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) added 12 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Capitanes. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.

The BSN tournament can reach the nine teams if the board of directors approves their return. Atleticos of San German ask for a dispense for the 2019 season in a board meeting in December. After a couple of weeks later a group appear and ask for an opportunity to manage the team and preventing that the historic franchise doesn't participate in the 2019 season. RAMON CLEMENTE Defending champion San Lorenzo de Almagra (La Liga) strengthened their roster with addition of 33-year old Puerto Rican international power forward Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita State). He has a double citizenship as he also holds American passport. Clemente played recently at Lenadores in Mexican LNBP.
