WIL MARTINEZ
We bring you last week's top performances from Puerto Ricans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Wil Martinez
Wil Martinez
#1. This week's number one is former U18 international shooting guard Wil Martinez (188-92, college: Fairmont St., currently plays in Panama). He was the major contributor in Halcones' victory against one of league's weakest teams Caballos (2-5) 87-76 in the Panamanian LPB in Wednesday night's game. Martinez recorded 25 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 29 minutes on the court. Universitarios de Panama (5-2) is placed second in the LPB. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Martinez has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 20.6ppg, 1.6rpg, 2.0apg, 2.0spg, 2FGP: 62.1%(18-29), 3FGP: 38.6% and FT: 84.2% in five games he played so far. Martinez has a dual citizenship: Puerto Rican and American. He played for the Puerto Rican U18 national team eight years ago. Martinez used to play for San German in Puerto Rican league.

Gian Clavell
Gian Clavell
#2. Second place goes to an international guard Gian Clavell (193-93, college: Colorado St., currently plays in Spain). He could not help Movil Estudiantes to beat La ICL Manresa (1-1). Clavell recorded 8 points. It was his first game for Movil Estudiantes this season. Movil Estudiantes was edged 79-77 on the road by the lower-ranked La ICL Manresa (#9). Clavell is in the roster of the Puerto Rican senior national team.

Alvin Cruz
Alvin Cruz
#3. The Puerto Rican player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international point guard Alvin Cruz (186-82, college: Niagara, currently plays in Panama). He was not able to help Caballos (2-5) in their last game. Despite Cruz's very good performance Caballos was edged 85-83 at home by the leading Correcaminos. He was the second best scorer with 19 points. Cruz also added 9 rebounds and 4 assists in 36 minutes. It was Caballos' third consecutive loss in a row. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Cruz has very impressive stats this year: 22.6ppg, 5.4rpg, 4.0apg, 2FGP: 57.7%(30-52), 3FGP: 40.7% and FT: 69.0% in five games. He played for the Puerto Rican national team thirteen years ago.
