   #1. This week's number one is an international swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi, currently plays in Mexico). He led Fuerza Regia to a victory over the seventh-ranked Huracanes (6-27) crushing them 90-69 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) in Sunday night's game. Huertas was MVP of the game. He scored 31 points (!!!) and added 3 assists in 36 minutes on the court. Fuerza Regia Monterrey (28-7) is placed first in North group. It was his team's 12th consecutive victory in a row. Huertas has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 18.4ppg, 3.3rpg, 3.5apg, 1.3spg, 3FGP: 41.6% and FT: 76.8% in 33 games he played so far. Huertas is currently a member of the Puerto Rican senior national team.

Shabazz Napier

   #2. Second place goes to former international point guard Shabazz Napier (185-91, college: Connecticut, currently plays in NBA). He was the major contributor in a Brooklyn Nets' victory against the Chicago Bulls (12-40) 122-117 in the NBA on Tuesday night. Napier scored 24 points, made 4 passes and 3 steals in 25 minutes. The Brooklyn Nets have 28-25 record this season. It's Napier's first year with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 9.8ppg, 1.8rpg, 2.3apg, 2FGP: 42.1%, 3FGP: 37.0% and FT: 82.1% in 41 games. Napier has a dual citizenship: Puerto Rican and American. He played for the Puerto Rican national team in 2016. Strangely Napier has never played in Puerto Rico.

   #3. The Puerto Rican player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international forward Renaldo Balkman (203-84, college: S.Carolina, currently plays in ASEAN League). He was the main contributor in a SM Beermen's victory against the league outsider Zhuhai (2-14) 100-81 in the ASEAN League in Tuesday night's game. Balkman was the best player in that game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 34 points and getting 13 rebounds. Balkman also added 4 assists and 2 blocks. San Miguel Beermen (11-2) is placed first in the ASEAN League. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Balkman's first season with the team. This year he has very high stats. Balkman averages: 25.9ppg, 12.1rpg, 3.7apg, 1.4bpg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 60.2%(118-196), 3FGP: 38.6% and FT: 76.9%. He is another player who holds two passports: Puerto Rican and American. Balkman played for the Puerto Rican national team three years ago. He used to play for Guayama in Puerto Rican league.

   #4. Center Peter Ramos (222-85, currently plays in ASEAN League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Renaldo Balkman and both played together in the last ASEAN League game. Ramos contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Zhuhai (2-14) 100-81. He had a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 22 rebounds. Ramos also added 7 assists and 4 blocks in 36 minutes. Ramos has very impressive stats this year: 19.2ppg, 12.1rpg and 4.0apg in 13 games. He has both American and Puerto Rican nationalities. Ramos used to play for the Puerto Rican national team back in 2016. He played also for Criollos de Caguas in Puerto Rican league.

   #5. International point guard Carlos Rivera (187-83, college: Hofstra, currently plays in Mexico) is a teammate of previously mentioned David Huertas. But that was another game of his team in Mexican LNBP which we would like to mention. Rivera contributed to a Fuerza Regia's victory against the sixth-ranked Santos (11-22) 94-85. He scored 16 points and added 5 passes. Fuerza Regia Monterrey (28-7) is placed first in North group. It was his team's 12th consecutive victory in a row. This season Rivera has relatively solid stats: 12.2ppg, 2.9rpg, 4.8apg and 1.3spg. He plays currently for the Puerto Rican national team.

   #6. Point guard Wilfredo Pagan (184-76, currently plays in Mexico) is a teammate of previously mentioned David Huertas and both played together in the last Mexican LNBP game. Pagan helped Fuerza Regia win their game against the seventh-ranked Huracanes (6-27) crushing them 90-69. He scored 12 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 37 minutes. This year Pagan's overall stats are: 4.3ppg, 1.6rpg and 1.8apg in 35 games. He also holds two passports: Puerto Rican and American. Pagan is a former international player as he played for the Puerto Rican senior team seventeen years ago. He used to play for Brujos de Guayama in Puerto Rican league.

   #7. International guard Gary Browne (185-93, college: W.Virginia, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) could not help Ironi Nes-Ziona (2-3) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Browne's very good performance the third-placed Ironi Nes-Ziona (2-3) was defeated 102-90 on the road by the leading Balkan in the group J of FIBA Europe Cup. He was the top scorer with 20 points. Browne's team will play only one more game in the FIBA Europe Cup Second Stage. And that game will be critical. Browne has reliable stats this season: 10.2ppg, 4.1rpg and 5.4apg. He holds both American and Puerto Rican passports. Browne is also Puerto Rican national team player. He used to play for Coamo in Puerto Rican league.

Maurice Harkless

   #8. Swingman Maurice Harkless (203-93, college: St.John's, currently plays in NBA) helped Portland Trail Blazers win their game against the Atlanta Hawks (16-35) 120-111 in the NBA on Saturday night. Harkless scored 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 31 minutes. The Portland Trail Blazers have a solid 32-20 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Harkless has been at the team for four years. This season his total stats are: 6.2ppg and 3.9rpg in 32 games. Harkless holds both American and Puerto Rican passports. He used to play for the Puerto Rican national team back in 2016. Apparently Harkless has never played in Puerto Rico.

International forward Carlos Lopez-Sosa (208-90, college: UNLV, currently plays in Mexico) helped Angeles win their game against the third-ranked Aaguacateros (19-11) 82-76 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) last Saturday. Lopez-Sosa had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 17 rebounds. He also added 5 assists in 35 minutes. Angeles de Puebla (11-21) is placed seventh in South group. Lopez-Sosa has very impressive stats this year: 16.9ppg, 8.2rpg and 2.8apg in 31 games. He is also in the roster of the Puerto Rican national team.

   #10. Shooting guard Wil Martinez (188-92, college: Fairmont St., currently plays in Chile) was not able to help Osorno Basquetbol (9-17) in their last game. Despite Martinez's very good performance Osorno Basquetbol (#6) was crushed 97-73 in Puerto Varas by the higher-ranked (#3) Aleman in the Conferencia Sur. He was the top scorer with 21 points. Martinez also added 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 35 minutes. The Regular Season already ended. Martinez has very impressive stats this year: 20.3ppg, 4.3rpg and 2.3apg in four games. He holds both American and Puerto Rican passports. Martinez is a former U18 international player as nine years ago he still played for the Puerto Rican national team. He used to play for San German in Puerto Rican league.

   #11. Former U19 international guard Jesus Cruz (196-98, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped Fairfield win their game against the Iona College 80-68 in the NCAA last Sunday. Cruz recorded 24 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Cruz's stats this season are: 10.5ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.5apg. He used to play for the Puerto Rican U19 national team two years ago.

   #12. Former U18 international shooting guard Ethan Thompson (197-99, currently studies in the States) helped Oregon St. edge the University of Colorado 76-74 in the NCAA on Thursday night. Thompson scored 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 32 minutes. Thompson's stats this year are: 13.6ppg, 5.0rpg, 3.1apg and 1.2spg in 20 games. He holds both American and Puerto Rican passports. Thompson used to play for the Puerto Rican U18 national team back in 2016. Interesting that he has never played in Puerto Rico.

   #13. Former international forward Christopher Ortiz (203-93, agency: Inception Sports, college: Kent St., currently plays in Finland) helped Helsinki Seagulls win their game against the league outsider Ura Basket crushing them 93-70 in the Finnish Korisliiga in Saturday night's game. Ortiz recorded 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. This season Ortiz has very high stats. He averages: 15.5ppg, 6.1rpg and 1.6apg. Ortiz holds both American and Puerto Rican passports. He used to play for the Puerto Rican national team two years ago. Ortiz played also for Santurce in Puerto Rican league.

   #14. International power forward Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Argentina) managed to help San Lorenzo de Almagra in a victory against the 18th-ranked Quilmes MP 95-78 in the Argentinian La Liga last Saturday. He scored only 2 points in 10 minutes. Clemente has averaged so far 4.0ppg and 4.0rpg in three games. He holds both American and Puerto Rican passports. Clemente plays currently for the Puerto Rican national team. He used to play for Indios de Mayaguez in Puerto Rican league.

   #15. Former international point guard Filiberto Rivera (189-82, college: UTEP, currently plays in Mexico) is a teammate of previously mentioned Carlos Lopez-Sosa and both played together in the last Mexican LNBP game. Rivera helped Angeles win their game against the third-ranked Aaguacateros 82-76. He scored 8 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 37 minutes. Rivera averaged so far 12.3ppg, 3.2rpg and 5.1apg in 25 games. He used to play for the Puerto Rican national team five years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Puerto Rican passport but never been selected to any of Puerto Rican national teams:

   #1. Experienced Walter Hodge (183-PG-86, college: Florida, currently plays in Lebanon) was the major contributor in Homentmen's victory against the sixth-ranked Hoops Club (4-7) 87-71 in a derby game in the Lebanese LBL last Thursday. He recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and making 10 passes. Hodge also added 9 rebounds. Homentmen Beirut (9-2) is placed first in the LBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Hodge has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 20.2ppg, 4.5rpg, 7.1apg and 1.3spg. Hodge has a dual citizenship: U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rican.

   #2. Jhivvan Jackson (183-PG, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the UTSA (4-2) in their last game on Thursday. Despite his very good performance his team was defeated 96-88 at home by the Western Kentucky University. Jackson scored 46 points (!!!) and added 3 assists. This season Jackson has very high stats. He averages: 22.6ppg, 3.4rpg, 2.4apg and 1.2spg.

   #3. Stephen Thompson Jr. (193-G-97, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the Oregon St. (3-2) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Thompson Jr.'s very good performance his team was defeated 79-69 on the road by the The University of Washington. He scored 30 points (!!!). Thompson Jr. is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Oregon St.'s roster. This season Thompson Jr. has very high stats. He averages: 16.2ppg, 4.6rpg, 3.8apg and 1.5spg. Thompson Jr. is another player who holds two passports: Puerto Rican and American. Interesting that he has never played in Puerto Rico.

   #4. Miguel Arnold (180-PG, currently plays in NCAA2) was not able to secure a victory for the Augusta University (4-2) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Arnold's very good performance his team was edged 79-76 in Aiken by the Univ.of S.Carolina -. He recorded 25 points. Arnold averaged so far 12.5ppg, 2.1rpg and 1.5apg.

   #5. Ebube Ebube (201-F-97, is currently at the American university) led Manhattan to a victory against the Fairfield University (0-6) 62-49 in the NCAA last Thursday. Ebube scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. The Manhattan College has not so impressive 2-4 conference record this season. Ebube has averaged so far 5.0ppg and 4.7rpg.

   #6. Neftali Alvarez (188-G, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to Fairfield's victory against the Iona College 80-68 in the NCAA on Sunday night. He recorded 11 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in 40 minutes. Alvarez averaged so far 11.6ppg, 3.9rpg, 3.4apg and 1.5spg in 22 games he played so far.

   #7. Emanuel Ubilla (188-PG-86, agency: Court Side, college: Fair Dickinson, currently plays in Hungary) couldn't help Kaposvari in their game against Szolnok in the Hungarian A Division. He scored 6 points and added 11 assists. His team was badly defeated by 18 points 96-78. Ubilla averaged so far 13.5ppg, 5.8rpg, 4.4apg and 1.3spg. He has both American and Puerto Rican nationalities. Ubilla used to play for Atleticos de San German in Puerto Rican league.

   #8. Jojo Walker (185-G-97, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the Portland (0-5) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance his team was defeated 74-70 on their home court in Portland by the University of Pacific. Walker scored 12 points. Walker averaged so far 12.1ppg, 3.3rpg and 3.5apg.

   #9. Kyle Vinales (185-G-92, college: Cent.Conn.St., currently plays in Cyprus) managed to help Petrolina AEK Larnaca in a victory against the league outsider Omonia 76-59 in the Cypriot Division A in Saturday night's game. He scored only one point in 12 minutes. Vinales has very impressive stats this year: 17.1ppg, 2.6rpg and 2.0apg in 14 games. He also holds two passports: Puerto Rican and American. Vinales used to play for Bayamon in Puerto Rican league.

   #10. K.J. Santos (203-G-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the Missouri in their game against the Louisiana State University in the NCAA. He scored only 4 points. His team was defeated 86-80. Santos has averaged so far 1.7ppg and 2.3rpg. He holds both American and Puerto Rican passports. However Santos has never played in Puerto Rico.
