   #1. This week's number one is an experienced former international forward Renaldo Balkman (203-84, college: S.Carolina, currently plays in ASEAN League). He led his Filipino team SM Beermen to a victory over the closely-ranked Hong Kong ELL (12-9) 96-81 in the ASEAN League in Friday night's game. Balkman was MVP of the game. He scored 32 points (!!!), had 4 boards, handed out 4 passes and blocked 3 shots in 40 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. San Miguel Beermen (14-3) is placed first in the ASEAN League. It's Balkman's first season with the team. Balkman has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 25.4ppg, 11.1rpg, 3.9apg, 1.4bpg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 59.9%(154-257), 3FGP: 35.7% and FT: 72.4% in 17 games he played so far. Balkman has a dual citizenship: Puerto Rican and American. He played for the Puerto Rican senior national team three years ago. Balkman used to play for Guayama in Puerto Rican league.

David Huertas

   #2. Second place goes to an international swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi, currently plays in Mexico). He could not help Fuerza Regia (30-9) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Huertas' very good performance the first-placed Fuerza Regia (30-9) was edged 82-79 on the road by the lower-ranked Lenadores (#3) in the North group. He was the top scorer with 20 points. Huertas' team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. This season Huertas has very high stats. He averages: 18.1ppg, 3.2rpg, 3.5apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 49.6%, 3FGP: 41.3% and FT: 78.1%. Huertas is in the roster of the Puerto Rican senior national team.

Ramon Clemente

   #3. The Puerto Rican player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Argentina). He was not able to help San Lorenzo (12-1) in their last game. Despite Clemente's good performance the league leader San Lorenzo lost 78-82 in Bahia Blanca to the one of league's weakest teams (#19) Bahia Basket. He scored 11 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 23 minutes. This year Clemente's overall stats are: 6.2ppg, 4.4rpg, 1.2apg and FT: 58.8% in five games. He is another player who holds two passports: Puerto Rican and American. Clemente is also a member of the Puerto Rican senior national team. He used to play for Indios de Mayaguez in Puerto Rican league.

   #4. Power forward Alexander Galindo (200-85, college: FIU, currently plays in Argentina) was not able to secure a victory for Boca Juniors (9-8) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Galindo's very good performance Boca Juniors was defeated 83-68 in Comodoro Rivadavia by the much higher-ranked Gimnasia (#4). He was the top scorer with 26 points. Galindo's total stats this season are: 5.9ppg and 2.4rpg. He used to play for the Puerto Rican national team back in 2016.

   #5. International point guard Carlos Rivera (187-83, college: Hofstra, currently plays in Mexico) is a teammate of previously mentioned David Huertas and both played together in the last Mexican LNBP game. Rivera couldn't help Fuerza Regia (30-9) in their last game. Despite his good performance Fuerza Regia was edged 82-79 by the lower-ranked (#3) Lenadores in the North group. Rivera was the second best scorer with 13 points. He also added 7 assists in 26 minutes. Rivera has relatively good stats this year: 12.1ppg, 2.8rpg, 4.9apg and 1.2spg in 35 games. He plays currently for the Puerto Rican national team.

   #6. Guard Gary Browne (185-93, college: W.Virginia, currently plays in Israel) couldn't help Ironi Nes-Ziona (8-9) in their game against Maccabi Ashdod (6-11) in the Israeli Winner League. Despite his very good performance on Tuesday night Browne was the top scorer with 14 points. He also added 7 rebounds and dished 6 assists. This season Browne has relatively solid stats: 14.9ppg, 5.9rpg, 4.8apg and 1.1spg. He has both American and Puerto Rican nationalities. Browne is an international player who is currently on the senior Puerto Rican National Team roster. He used to play for Coamo in Puerto Rican league.

   #7. International forward Carlos Lopez-Sosa (208-90, college: UNLV, currently plays in Mexico) was the main contributor in Angeles' victory against the fourth-ranked Abejas (17-21) 73-72 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) in Tuesday night's game. Lopez-Sosa was the best player in that game. He had a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 16 rebounds in 40 minutes. Angeles de Puebla (13-25) is placed seventh in South group. Lopez-Sosa's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Lopez-Sosa has very impressive stats this year: 16.8ppg, 8.3rpg and 2.7apg in 35 games. He is also Puerto Rican national team player.

   #8. Center Peter Ramos (222-85, currently plays in ASEAN League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Renaldo Balkman. But that was another game of his team in ASEAN League which we would like to mention. Ramos contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Zhuhai (2-16) crushing them 105-79. He recorded a triple-double by scoring 15 points, grabbing 14 rebounds and passing 11 assists. San Miguel Beermen (14-3) is placed first in the ASEAN League. This season Ramos has very high stats. He averages: 19.1ppg, 12.7rpg and 4.8apg. Ramos also holds two passports: Puerto Rican and American. He used to play for the Puerto Rican national team back in 2016. Ramos played also for Criollos de Caguas in Puerto Rican league.

   #9. Former international point guard Shabazz Napier (185-91, college: Connecticut, currently plays in NBA) contributed to a Brooklyn Nets' victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers (12-46) 148-139 in the NBA on Wednesday night. He scored 10 points and added 7 assists in 22 minutes. The Brooklyn Nets have 30-29 record this season. Napier has reliable stats this year: 9.8ppg, 1.9rpg and 2.6apg in 47 games. He holds both American and Puerto Rican passports. Napier used to play for the Puerto Rican national team three years ago. Strangely he has never played in Puerto Rico.

Forward Christopher Ortiz (203-93, agency: Inception Sports, college: Kent St., currently plays in Finland) couldn't help Helsinki Seagulls (10-18) in their game against KTP-Basket (17-10) in the Finnish Korisliiga. Despite his very good performance in Tuesday night's game Ortiz recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and getting 10 rebounds (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line). This season Ortiz has very high stats. He averages: 15.6ppg, 6.2rpg and 1.4apg. Ortiz holds both American and Puerto Rican passports. He is a former international player as two years ago he still played for the Puerto Rican senior national team. Ortiz used to play for Santurce in Puerto Rican league.

   #11. Former international swingman Maurice Harkless (203-93, college: St.John's, currently plays in NBA) helped Portland Trail Blazers win their game against the Golden State Warriors crushing them 129-107 in the NBA last Wednesday. He scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 20 minutes. This year Harkless' total stats are: 6.0ppg and 3.8rpg in 37 games. He holds both American and Puerto Rican passports. Harkless used to play for the Puerto Rican national team three years ago. Apparently he has never played in Puerto Rico.

   #12. Former U18 international shooting guard Ethan Thompson (197-99, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped Oregon St. win their game against the University of California 79-71 in the NCAA on Saturday night. Thompson scored 20 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Thompson averaged so far 13.8ppg, 5.1rpg, 3.2apg and 1.1spg. He holds both American and Puerto Rican passports. Thompson used to play for the Puerto Rican U18 national team back in 2016. Interesting that he has never played in Puerto Rico.

   #13. International guard Gian Clavell (193-93, college: Colorado St., currently plays in Spain) was the major contributor in a 1-point Movil Estudiantes' victory against the closely-ranked Andorra 91-90 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Sunday night's game. Clavell scored 13 points in 22 minutes. Clavell's stats this year are: 13.2ppg and 2.3rpg in 19 games. He is also Puerto Rican national team player.

   #14. Former international point guard Wilfredo Pagan (184-76, currently plays in Mexico) is a teammate of previously mentioned David Huertas. However that was another game of his team in Mexican LNBP which brought him to that list. Pagan couldn't help Fuerza Regia in their game against Lenadores. He recorded 9 points. His team was crushed by 22 points 104-82. Pagan has averaged so far 4.6ppg, 1.6rpg and 1.8apg. He holds both American and Puerto Rican passports. Pagan used to play for the Puerto Rican national team back in 2002. He played also for Brujos de Guayama in Puerto Rican league.

   #15. Former international point guard Filiberto Rivera (189-82, college: UTEP, currently plays in Mexico) is a teammate of previously mentioned Carlos Lopez-Sosa and both played together in the last Mexican LNBP game. Rivera helped Angeles edge the fourth-ranked Abejas 73-72. He recorded 16 points, 3 assists and 3 steals in 37 minutes. Rivera averaged so far 12.5ppg, 3.3rpg, 5.6apg and 1.1spg in 29 games. He used to play for the Puerto Rican national team five years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Puerto Rican passport but never been selected to any of Puerto Rican national teams:

   #1. Stephen Thompson Jr. (193-G-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Oregon St. to a victory against the University of California (3-3) 79-71 in the NCAA on Saturday night. Thompson Jr. scored 21 points and blocked 2 shots in 36 minutes. The Oregon State University has 3-2 conference record this season. Thompson Jr. is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Oregon St.'s roster. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Thompson Jr. averages: 16.0ppg, 4.6rpg, 3.5apg and 1.5spg in 23 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Puerto Rican and American.

   #2. Jhivvan Jackson (183-PG, currently studies in the States) contributed to UTSA's victory against the Florida Atlantic University (0-6) 86-74 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game. He scored 24 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished 3 assists. The The Univ.of Texas - San Antonio has a solid 4-2 conference record this season. There are only two games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Jackson has very high stats. He averages: 22.5ppg, 4.0rpg, 2.5apg and 1.3spg.

   #3. Experienced Emanuel Ubilla (188-PG-86, agency: Court Side, college: Fair Dickinson, currently plays in Hungary) contributed to Kaposvari's victory against the closely-ranked Atomeromu (8-11) 88-77 in the Hungarian A Division in Saturday night's game. Ubilla recorded 15 points, 5 assists and 3 steals in 29 minutes. Kaposvari KK (7-12) is placed 12th in the A Division. Ubilla averaged so far 13.3ppg, 5.4rpg, 4.6apg and 1.3spg in 10 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Puerto Rican and American. Ubilla used to play for Atleticos de San German in Puerto Rican league.

   #4. Jojo Walker (185-G-97, is currently at the American university), who plays in the NCAA could not help the Portland (0-5) in their last game. Despite his very good performance his team was badly defeated 72-55 on the road by the Loyola Marymount University. Walker scored 15 points (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line) in 35 minutes. So far Portland lost all five games in the conference Walker averaged so far 12.0ppg, 3.2rpg and 3.4apg in 26 games.

   #5. Neftali Alvarez (188-G, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the Fairfield (2-5) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance his team was defeated 72-68 at home by the Canisius College. Alvarez scored 14 points and added 4 passes. There are only four games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Alvarez averaged so far 11.4ppg, 3.7rpg, 3.3apg and 1.4spg.

   #6. Ebube Ebube (201-F-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to Manhattan's victory against the Niagara University 64-60 in the NCAA last Friday. He scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Ebube has averaged so far 5.5ppg and 4.7rpg.

   #7. Denilson Fonseca (190-G-98, currently plays in Luxembourg) managed to help Basket Esch to win against the second-ranked Amicale 65-47 in the Luxembourg Total League in Saturday night's game. He recorded only 4 points and blocked 2 blocks. This season Fonseca averages just 2.0ppg.

   #8. Miguel Arnold (180-PG, currently plays in NCAA2) contributed to an easy victory against the Columbus State University 87-68 in the NCAA2 on Saturday night. He recorded only 3 points. Arnold averaged so far 12.3ppg, 2.1rpg and 1.4apg.

   #9. K.J. Santos (203-G-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to a 1-point Missouri's victory against the The University of Arkansas 79-78 in the NCAA in Tuesday night's game. He scored only one point in 7 minutes on the court. Santos has averaged so far 1.4ppg and 1.7rpg in 14 games. He has both American and Puerto Rican nationalities.

   #10. Ariel Watson (190-G-95, currently plays in NCAA2) contributed to an West Liberty State College's surprising victory against the West Virginia State University crushing them 131-100 in the NCAA2 last Thursday. He scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Watson has averaged so far 8.6ppg and 2.3rpg.

After 3 rounds played we can already see who rules in the BSN and who belongs to weaker ones. There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL. Cariduros defeated Vaqueros in Fajardo 98-91. BRONSON KOENIG Vaqueros de Bayamon (BSN) added to their roster 24-year old American guard Bronson Koenig (192-82kg-94, college: Wisconsin, agency: BeoBasket). He just played at Mineros in Mexican LNBP. Koenig managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year. In two LNBP games he recorded 13.0ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.5apg this season.
