Puerto Rico - Uruguay 65:61

Puerto Rico defeated Uruguay in San Juan to clinch their World Cup berth. They occupied the third position in Group E of the Americas Qualifiers. Gary Browne (185-G-93, college: W.Virginia) scored 16 points to lead the charge.
Uruguay jumped to an early lead. The visitors ensured a 19:9 lead after the opening quarter. Puerto Rico responded with a strong 23:7 rally in the second stanza to take a 32:26 halftime lead. Uruguay managed to pull within 5 points at the final intermission. But Puerto Rico regained control in the fourth quarter and raced to the victory. Gian Clavell (193-G-93, college: Colorado St.) chipped in 13 points, while John Holland (195-F/G-88, college: Boston U.) had 11 points for Puerto Rico. Esteban Batista (208-C-83, agency: Duran International) replied with 19 points and 9 rebounds for Uruguay.   




Will Daniels
Will Daniels to join Ponce - 6 hours ago
Veteran forward Will Daniels(202-F-86, college: URI) signed with Leones de Ponce and is expected to join the team on Sunday. Daniels played in BSN for Guaynabo, Quebradillas and Fajardo. In 2017 he won a championship with Quebradillas. He recently played in France with Levallois where he averaged 10.8 points in 14 games. Ponce is expected to finish the season with Adrian Uter and Daniels as their imports. JJ Hickson and Nick Minnerath left due to personal commitments.   [read more]
