We bring you last week's top performances from Puerto Ricans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced former international center Peter Ramos (222-85, currently plays in ASEAN League). He led his Filipino team SM Beermen to a victory over the sixth-ranked Macau (11-10) 101-96 in the ASEAN League in Friday night's game. Ramos was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 29 points and getting 13 rebounds in 37 minutes on the court. San Miguel Beermen (18-4) is placed first in the ASEAN League. There are only four games left until the end of the ASEAN League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Ramos has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 19.6ppg, 13.3rpg, 4.5apg, 2FGP: 63.9%(131-205), 3FGP: 31.1% and FT: 48.4% in 20 games he played so far. Ramos has a dual citizenship: Puerto Rican and American. He played for the Puerto Rican senior national team three years ago. Ramos used to play for Criollos de Caguas in Puerto Rican league.

Maurice Harkless

   #2. Second place goes to former international swingman Maurice Harkless (203-93, college: St.John's, currently plays in NBA). He could not help the Portland Trail Blazers (39-26) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Harkless' very good performance the Portland Trail Blazers (39-26) were defeated 120-111 on the road by the Memphis Grizzlies. He recorded 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. It's Harkless' fourth season with the team. Harkless' overall stats this year are: 6.9ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 57.9%(106-183), 3FGP: 27.3% and FT: 66.7%. He is another player who holds two passports: Puerto Rican and American. Harkless played for the Puerto Rican national team in 2016. Strangely he has never played in Puerto Rico.

Ethan Thompson

   #3. The Puerto Rican player who performed third best last week abroad was former U18 international shooting guard Ethan Thompson (197-99, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA. Thompson was not able to help the Oregon St. (9-7) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Oregon St. was edged 74-71 in Phoenix by the Arizona State University. Thompson had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 9 assists in 37 minutes. Thompson's team will play only one more game in the NCAA Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Thompson has relatively good stats this year: 13.5ppg, 5.0rpg, 3.7apg, 2FGP: 49.7%, 3FGP: 37.3% and FT: 80.6% in 29 games. He has both American and Puerto Rican nationalities. Thompson played for the Puerto Rican U18 national team three years ago. Apparently he has never played in Puerto Rico.

   #4. Power forward Alexander Galindo (200-85, college: FIU, currently plays in Argentina) was not able to secure a victory for Boca Juniors (11-8) in their game against Obras Basket (12-8) in the Argentinian La Liga. Galindo scored 9 points in 16 minutes. But Boca Juniors lost 64-73 in a derby game to the higher-ranked (#5) Obras Basket. This year Galindo's overall stats are: 5.5ppg and 2.1rpg in 13 games. He used to play for the Puerto Rican national team back in 2016.

   #5. Former international forward Christopher Ortiz (203-93, agency: Inception Sports, college: Kent St., currently plays in Finland) contributed to a Helsinki Seagulls' victory against the closely-ranked BC Nokia (12-19) 102-93 in the Finnish Korisliiga in Sunday night's game. Ortiz scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 35 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. Helsinki Seagulls (13-18) is placed seventh in the Korisliiga. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Ortiz's first year with the team. Ortiz has very impressive stats this season: 15.6ppg, 6.2rpg and 1.5apg in 28 games. He also holds two passports: Puerto Rican and American. Ortiz used to play for the Puerto Rican national team two years ago. He played also for Santurce in Puerto Rican league.

   #6. Point guard Wilfredo Pagan (184-76, currently plays in Mexico) managed to help Fuerza Regia Monterrey in a victory against the fourth-ranked Laguneros (19-20) 96-86 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) on Saturday night. He recorded only 3 points in 7 minutes on the court. Fuerza Regia Monterrey (31-9) is placed first in North group. This year Pagan's total stats are: 4.3ppg, 1.6rpg and 1.8apg in 44 games. He holds both American and Puerto Rican passports. Pagan is a former international player as he played for the Puerto Rican senior team seventeen years ago. He used to play for Brujos de Guayama in Puerto Rican league.

   #7. Former U19 international guard Jorge Pacheco-Ortiz (185-98, currently studies in the States) helped Liberty win their game against the Jacksonville University (5-11) 72-58 in the NCAA last Monday. He recorded 16 points in 30 minutes. The Liberty University has a very solid 14-2 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Pacheco-Ortiz has averaged so far 7.0ppg, 1.6rpg and 2.3apg in 32 games. He used to play for the Puerto Rican U19 national team two years ago.

   #8. Center George Conditt IV (210-0, is currently at the American university), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the Iowa St. (13-5) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Conditt IV's good performance the Iowa St. was badly defeated 86-69 at home by the The University of Texas. He scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Conditt IV's team will play only one more game in the NCAA Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. Conditt IV has averaged so far 2.1ppg and 1.8rpg. He plays currently for the Puerto Rican U18 national team.

Former U18 international guard Ivan Gandia-Rosa (185-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped N.Florida win their game against the University of North Alabama (7-9) 76-66 in the NCAA in Monday night's game. Gandia-Rosa recorded 14 points and added 7 assists in 36 minutes. The University of North Florida has 9-7 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. This year Gandia-Rosa has relatively solid stats: 10.6ppg, 3.2rpg and 5.8apg in 32 games. He used to play for the Puerto Rican U18 national team five years ago.

   #10. Guard Eric Ayala (196-99, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the the league outsider Maryland in their last game on Sunday. Despite Ayala's good performance the Maryland was defeated 69-62 in Ann Arbor by the University of Michigan. He scored 10 points. It's Ayala's first season with the team. Ayala has averaged so far 8.4ppg, 2.7rpg and 2.2apg. He holds both American and Puerto Rican passports. Ayala is a former U16 international player as four years ago he still played for the Puerto Rican national team. Interesting that he has never played in Puerto Rico.

   #11. Former international point guard Shabazz Napier (185-91, college: Connecticut, currently plays in NBA) helped Brooklyn Nets win their game against the Dallas Mavericks crushing them 127-88 in the NBA in Monday night's game. He scored only 2 points. Napier has reliable stats this season: 9.6ppg, 1.7rpg and 2.6apg. He holds both American and Puerto Rican passports. Napier used to play for the Puerto Rican national team three years ago. However he has never played in Puerto Rico.

   #12. Former U18 international point guard David Moya (183-98, currently plays in NCAA2) helped Barry University edge the Saint Leo University 74-73 in the NCAA2 last Saturday. Moya scored 14 points and added 3 passes in 28 minutes. Moya has averaged so far 6.8ppg, 3.3rpg and 3.7apg in 23 games. He used to play for the Puerto Rican U18 national team back in 2014.

   #13. Former U19 international forward Nicholas Guadarrama (196-99, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the New Hampshire in their game against the University of Maryland -Baltimore County in the NCAA. Guadarrama scored 9 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. His team was edged 56-53. Guadarrama has averaged so far 7.8ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.5apg. He used to play for the Puerto Rican U19 national team two years ago.

   #14. Former U16 international point guard Jose Morales (175, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the Princeton (2-0) in their last game. Despite Morales' good performance his team lost 63-67 in Providence to the Brown University. He scored 10 points in 16 minutes. Morales has averaged so far 4.6ppg, 1.5rpg, 1.8apg and 1.5spg in 23 games. He used to play for the Puerto Rican U16 national team back in 2014.

   #15. U18 international guard Jose Placer (188-0, currently plays college basketball in the States) faced previously mentioned Nicholas Guadarrama in the NCAA last game. Placer helped UMBC win their game against the University of New Hampshire 56-53. He scored 7 points. Placer has averaged so far 5.7ppg, 1.3rpg and 1.7apg. He is also in the roster of the Puerto Rican U18 national team.


The list of other players, who all have Puerto Rican passport but never been selected to any of Puerto Rican national teams:

   #1. Jhivvan Jackson (183-PG, currently plays college basketball in the States) led UTSA to a victory against the Western Kentucky University (11-5) 81-76 in the NCAA in Wednesday night's game. Jackson scored 29 points (!!!) and grabbed 8 rebounds. The The Univ.of Texas - San Antonio has a solid 4-2 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Jackson has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 23.0ppg, 4.1rpg, 2.4apg and 1.2spg.

   #2. Experienced Emanuel Ubilla (188-PG-86, agency: Court Side, college: Fair Dickinson, currently plays in Hungary) was the major contributor in Kaposvari's victory against the sixth-ranked ZTE KK (11-9) 96-85 in the Hungarian A Division on Saturday night. Ubilla scored 19 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 8 assists. Kaposvari KK (8-12) is placed 11th in the A Division. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Ubilla's first season with the team. This year he has relatively solid stats: 13.8ppg, 5.3rpg, 4.9apg and 1.3spg. Ubilla has a dual citizenship: Puerto Rican and American. He used to play for Atleticos de San German in Puerto Rican league.

   #3. Neftali Alvarez (188-G, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the Fairfield (6-12) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Alvarez's very good performance the Fairfield was defeated 62-52 at home by the Saint Peter's University. He scored 16 points, made 4 passes and 3 steals. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. It's Alvarez's first season with the team. This year Alvarez has relatively solid stats: 11.3ppg, 3.7rpg, 3.3apg and 1.4spg.

   #4. Stephen Thompson Jr. (193-G-97, is currently at the American university), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the Oregon St. (9-7) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Thompson Jr.'s good performance the Oregon St. was edged 74-71 on the road by the Arizona State University. He scored 10 points. Thompson Jr.'s team will play only one more game in the NCAA Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Thompson Jr. is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Oregon St.'s roster. This season he has very high stats. Thompson Jr. averages: 15.9ppg, 4.3rpg, 3.3apg and 1.6spg. He is another player who holds two passports: Puerto Rican and American. Interesting that Thompson Jr. has never played in Puerto Rico.

   #5. Miguel Arnold (180-PG, currently plays in NCAA2) contributed to an Augusta University's surprising victory against the Columbus State University (8-14) crushing them 89-65 in the NCAA2 on Wednesday night. Arnold recorded 15 points and added 4 passes in 27 minutes. The Augusta University has record this season. Arnold has reliable stats this year: 13.0ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.7apg in 23 games he played so far.

   #6. Ebube Ebube (201-F-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) managed to help Manhattan College in a victory against the Quinnipiac College 62-58 in the NCAA on Sunday night. Ebube scored only 4 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 22 minutes. Ebube has averaged so far 6.0ppg and 4.9rpg in 28 games.

   #7. Jojo Walker (185-G-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to secure a victory for the Portland in their game against the Santa Clara University in the NCAA. He scored 5 points. His team was badly defeated by 16 points 78-62. Walker's stats this season are: 11.5ppg, 3.1rpg and 3.4apg.

   #8. Denilson Fonseca (190-G-98, currently plays in Luxembourg) couldn't help Basket Esch in their game against Racing in the Luxembourg Total League. He recorded 8 points in 21 minutes. His team lost 65-77. Fonseca has averaged so far 2.2ppg and 1.1rpg in 18 games.

   #9. Daniel Vitiello (188-G, currently plays in NAIA) couldn't help the Montreat Anderson College in their game against the Mt.Vernon Nazarene University in the AAC. He recorded only 4 points in 9 minutes on the court. His team lost 63-76 in the AAC. Vitiello has averaged so far 2.2ppg and 1.1rpg in 18 games.

   #10. Joseph Soto (190-G-93, currently plays in Mexico) contributed to Lenadores' victory against the second-ranked Mineros 81-77 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) on Thursday night. He recorded only 4 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists in 27 minutes. Soto averaged so far 11.2ppg, 2.5rpg, 7.1apg and 1.1spg in 37 games. He has both Puerto Rican and Mexican nationalities.

NICK MINNERATH American Power forward Nick Minnerath (207-PF-88) put on an extraordinary performance in the last week for Ponce, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for week 3. The 30-year old player was the main contributor (44 points, six rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Fajardo (#3, 4-1) 130-117.
