L.J. Figueroa gets MVP of the Week award for Puerto Rican BSN (by Hoops Agents)- April 7, 2023
The 24-year old forward had a double-double of 21 points and thirteen rebounds, while his team beat Guaynabo (#6, 1-6) 98-88. Humacao is placed at 5th position in Puerto Rican BSN. The season is still in it's early stage, so the team may have a chance to improve their current position in the standings. They lost 6 games and had just two victories. In the team's last game Figueroa had a remarkable 85.7% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Humacao, being already a very valuable addition to the team. L.J. Figueroa averages just after three games 20.0ppg and 8.0rpg. The second most remarkable performance in last week's games was young American Ed Davis (206-C/F-1989, agency: MSG) of Guaynabo. Davis impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 16 points and 22 rebounds. Bad luck as Guaynabo lost that game 88-98 to slightly higher-ranked Humacao (#5, 2-6). Guaynabo managed to keep the same 6th spot in Group B. 6 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Guaynabo managed to get this year. Davis is one of the most experienced players at Guaynabo and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. The third best performed player last week was American Cameron Oliver (203-F-1996) of Ponce (#5). Oliver scored 24 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). Despite Oliver's great performance Ponce lost 78-89 to slightly lower-ranked Manati (#6, 2-6). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Ponce ranking at the top of Group A, however are very questionable as they have already lost 4 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Oliver could help Ponce to bring them higher in the standings. Oliver has a great season in Puerto Rico. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.7rpg (5th best). He also has 1.6bpg and FGP: 64.2%. Other top performing players last week: 4. Elfrid Payton (191-G-1994) of Manati - 20 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists 5. Dererk Pardon (203-C-1996) of Santurce - 19 points and 11 rebounds 6. Ismael Romero (205-C-1991) of Bayamon - 19 points and 7 rebounds 7. Hassan Whiteside (213-C-1989) of Quebradillas - 18 points and 16 rebounds 8. Jared Ruiz (188-G/F-1992) of Humacao - 29 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Kaleb Wesson (208-C/F-1999) of Mayaguez - 22 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists 10. Emmanuel Andujar (197-F-1993) of Fajardo - 17 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
