Clavell comes back to Santurce

Gian Clavell

Cangrejeros de Santurce (BSN) inked 29-year old Puerto Rican international 193cm point guard Gian Clavell (college: Colorado State, agency: Octagon Europe). It is actually his comeback to Cangrejeros as he has played here before. Clavell moved there from Prometey in Ukrainian Lat-Est BL. In 21 games he recorded very impressive stats: 15.2ppg, 2.0rpg and 2.5apg last season. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. Clavell also played 31 games in Lat-Est BL where he averaged 11.6ppg, 2.5rpg, 2.7apg and 1.2spg. The last summer he played at Cangrejeros in Puerto Rican BSN. In 35 games he had also remarkable stats: 15.0ppg, 2.9rpg and 2.5apg. Great season indeed as he was voted to Puerto Rican BSN All-Star Game. He has been regularly called to Puerto Rican Senior National Team since 2017.
Clavell is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to eight different countries on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America). Clavell has played previously professionally in Greece (Promitheas), Russia (Avtodor), Spain (Estudiantes), Turkey (Bursaspor and Sakarya Buyuksehir Basketbol), NBA (Dallas Mavericks and GS Warriors), NBA G League (Texas Legends) and NBA Summer League (Portland Trail Blazers). He won Latvian-Estonian Basketball League championship title in 2023.
Clavell received All-MWC Player of the Year award back in 2017.
He graduated from Colorado State in 2017 and it is his sixth season in pro basketball. Clavell played also for Northwest Kansas Technical College for 2 years.
