Indios de Mayaguez (BSN) has signed 30-year-old American center Willie Cauley-Stein, who stands at 213cm tall and played college basketball at Kentucky. Cauley-Stein recently played for Itelyum Varese in the Italian Serie A. Last year, he played in three different leagues, giving him exposure to basketball at various levels. In 11 Serie A games, he averaged 9.7 points per game, 8.0 rpg, and 1.2 apg. He also played 7 games in the FIBA Europe Cup, where he averaged 10.1ppg, 10.1rpg, 3.1apg, and 1.3 bpg. Additionally, he recorded 2 games in the Basketball Champions League, with averages of 10.0ppg, 10.5rpg, 1.0apg, and 3.0bpg.
Part of last season, he spent time with the Rockets in the NBA. He also played briefly for the Valley Vipers in the NBA G League.
In 2015, he was drafted by the Sacramento Kings (NBA) in the first round, 6th overall. He graduated from the University of Kentucky, and this will be his ninth season in professional basketball.
He has previously played professionally in the NBA for the Dallas Mavericks, GS Warriors, and Philadelphia 76ers. He also competed in the final of the NBA G League in 2023.
During his college years, he received several awards including the USBWA All-District IV Player of the Year, SEC All-Tournament Team, and All-SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2015.
