China registered the first win at the 2024 Olympic Games. They stormed past Puerto Rico to clinch the third position in Group A. Li Meng (185-F-1995) scored 18 points, issued 7 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds for the Asian team.
China dominated from start to finish. The Asian powerhouse established a 17-11 lead after ten minutes. China sank 23 points in the second term to secure a 40-29 halftime lead. China continued to impose their will in the second half. They poured in 22 points in the third quarter to extend the margin at 17 points and never looked back en route to the win. Li Yueru (201-C-1999) nailed 14 points for the winning side. Arella Guirantes (181-PG-1997, college: Rutgers) answered with 20 points, while Jones Brianna (177-G-1997, college: Georgetown) tossed in 13 points in the loss.
