Round 2 most important game was a victory of San German over Carolina 89-77 on Tuesday night. Athleticas outrebounded Gigantes 42-28 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Athleticas looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. American players dominated the game. Power forward Sidney Cooks (193-1998, college: Seton Hall) orchestrated the victory by scoring 35 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Akilah Bethel (183-1993, college: LSU) contributed with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Guard Selena Lott (180-1999, college: Marquette) replied with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for Gigantes. Gigantes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. San German are looking forward to face Morovis on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Carolina will play against Manati and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Important game to mention about took place in Moca. Moca saved a 2-point victory at home edging Gigantes 79-77 in the game for the seventh place. American players dominated also this game. Forward Alexis Jennings (190-1996, college: S.Carolina) had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Asia Taylor chipped in 12 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. Guard Selena Lott (180-1999, college: Marquette) responded with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. Moca will play against Santurce on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gigantes will play against Manati to get more than just one victory in their record.
In the last two games of round 2 Santurce beat Isabela on the road 80-73. Winless Lares lost to undefeated Morovis on its own court 64-68.
