BSNF Round 3 (Regular Season): #1 Hatillo is defeated by Manati

After 3 rounds played we can already see who rules in the BSNF and who belongs to weaker ones. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Hatillo (1-1) in Manati on Wednesday night. Visitors were rolled over by Atenienses (2-1) 95-68. Manati dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Hatillo's 28. They outrebounded Hatillo 47-33 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Manati looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for American forward DreUna Edwards (183, college: Baylor) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international forward India Pagan (185-1999, college: Stony Brook) helped adding 18 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Adrienne Williams (180-1991, college: Illinois) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Hatillo's coach F Morales gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Atenienses are looking forward to face Morovis at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hatillo will have a break next round.
Important game to mention about took place in Morovis. Montaneras (3-0) saved a 3-point victory at home edging Athleticas (1-2) 82-79 on Thursday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Americans were the main players on the court. It was an exceptional evening for guard Chelsea Mitchell (175-1997, college: Morgan St., agency: LBM Management) who led the winners and scored 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Asia Strong accounted for 17 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Sidney Cooks (193-1998, college: Seton Hall) came up with 31 points for San German in the defeat. Montaneras will play against Manati (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Athleticas will play against Isabela and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Santurce between Cangrejeras and Moca. Cangrejeras (2-0) got a very close home victory over Moca (0-2). Cangrejeras managed to escape with a 1-point win 78-77 on Wednesday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was Shae Kelley who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Alexis Jennings who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds. Cangrejeras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Moca will play against Lares (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 3 Carolina won against Manati on the opponent's court 86-82.

A very close game took place in Santurce between Cangrejeras and Moca. Cangrejeras (2-0) got a very close home victory over Moca (0-2). The best player for the winners was forward Shae Kelley (185-1991, college: Minnesota) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Kamaria McDaniel (178-1999, college: Michigan St.) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Alexis Jennings (190-1996, college: S.Carolina) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds and forward Asia Taylor (188-1991, college: Louisville) added 15 points and 18 rebounds respectively. Five Santurce and four Moca players scored in double figures. Cangrejeras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Moca will play against Lares (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Strong is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Power forward Sidney Cooks (193-1998, college: Seton Hall) came up with 31 points and guard Daisha Bradford (173-2000, college: ULM) added 8 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for San German in the defeat. There was an upset in Manati where Atenienses (2-1) were defeated by Gigantes (1-2) 86-82 on Thursday. Carolina looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Teana Muldrow (188-1995, college: WVU) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Selena Lott (180-1999, college: Marquette) chipped in 13 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Gigantes' coach Carlos Calcano used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward India Pagan (185-1999, college: Stony Brook) who recorded 24 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) and American forward DreUna Edwards (183, college: Baylor) added 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively.
