The biggest surprise took place in Manati where host Atenienses (3-1) crushed league's leader Montaneras (3-1) 105-77 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Montaneras. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Manati made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Manati had a 32-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Manati looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Morovis' players. International point guard Kaela Hilaire (157-1998, college: Stony Brook) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds, 21 assists and 4 steals (made all of her eight free throws) for the winners. American swingman Kaitlyn Davis (188-2001, college: USC) chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Pamela Rosado (165-1986) produced 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for lost side. Montaneras' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Manati keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Morovis. Morovis will play next round against Moca trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Manati will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked San German on the road.
Undefeated Pollitas (1-1) recorded its first loss in San German. Visitors were rolled over by sixth ranked Athleticas (2-2) 99-80. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Akilah Bethel (183-1993, college: LSU) who helped to win the game recording 30 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Sidney Cooks contributed with 26 points for the winners. Swingman Naomi Davenport (180, college: WVU) replied with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for Isabela. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. San German moved-up to fourth place. Isabela at the other side dropped to the fifth position with one game lost. They share it with Hatillo. San German will play against league's leader Manati at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Isabela will play against Santurce (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

At the losing side Asia Taylor responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Lares (1-3) left bottom position moving up to eighth place. It was Moca's third loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with three games lost. Lares will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Moca will play against the league's second-placed Morovis (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
