BSNF Round 5 (Regular Season): Moca beats Morovis by one after a very close game

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most exciting game of round 5 in the BSNF took place in Moca. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Montaneras (3-2) to ninth ranked Moca (1-3) 90-89 on Monday evening. Moca outrebounded Morovis 53-34 including 18 on the offensive glass. American players dominated the game. Forward Asia Taylor (188-1991, college: Louisville) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds. Forward Alexis Jennings (190-1996, college: S.Carolina) contributed with 26 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Forward Asia Strong (188-2000, college: Syracuse) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds for Morovis. Montaneras' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Moca left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with Lares. Morovis at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. Moca is looking forward to face league's second-placed Santurce at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Morovis will play against Carolina and are hoping to win this game.
An interesting game for Cangrejeras (3-0) which hosted in Santurce 4th placed Pollitas (2-2). Leader Cangrejeras had an easy win 95-69. International guard Brianna Jones (177-1997, college: Georgetown) stepped up and scored 9 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Kamaria McDaniel chipped in 16 points. American swingman Naomi Davenport (180, college: WVU) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cangrejeras have a solid series of three victories in a row. Santurce moved-up to second place. Isabela at the other side keeps the fourth position with two games lost. Santurce will play against bottom-ranked Moca (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Isabela will have a break next round.
BSNF top team - Atenienses (4-1) had no problems winning another game on Monday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Athleticas (2-3) in San German 107-81. India Pagan nailed a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Daisha Bradford came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists for San German in the defeat. Athleticas' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Manati maintains first place with 4-1 record. Newly promoted San German keeps the fifth position with three games lost. Manati will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. San German will play against the league's leader Manati (#1) and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 5 Hatillo was smashed by Isabela on the road 98-69.
The most impressive performance of 5th round was 10 points and 8 rebounds by Arielle Gonzalez-Varner of Isabela.

Isabela - Hatillo 98-69

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Pollitas' (2-2) home victory over 5th ranked Hatillo (1-2) in Isabela 98-69 on Sunday. Isabela forced 19 Hatillo turnovers. American players dominated also this game. Forward DeAnna Wilson (188, college: Illinois St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and guard Ariana Moorer (172-1991, college: Virginia) accounted for 22 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Four Pollitas players scored in double figures. Pollitas' coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Ionna McKenzie (188-1996, college: Texas Tech) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and guard Sianni Martin (173-1996, college: UCF) added 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Hatillo in the defeat. Isabela maintains fourth place with 2-2 record. Loser Hatillo dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with Carolina. Isabela will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hatillo will play against Lares (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Manati had a 34-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists. The former international forward India Pagan (185-1999, college: Stony Brook) nailed a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winning side and international point guard Kaela Hilaire (157-1998, college: Stony Brook) accounted for 19 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists. Five Atenienses players scored in double figures. American guard Daisha Bradford (173-2000, college: ULM) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists and the other American import power forward Sidney Cooks (193-1998, college: Seton Hall) added 27 points respectively for San German in the defeat. An interesting game for Cangrejeras (3-0) which hosted in Santurce 4th placed Pollitas (2-2). Leader Cangrejeras had an easy win 95-69. Santurce dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Pollitas's 32. Santurce forced 19 Isabela turnovers. International guard Brianna Jones (177-1997, college: Georgetown) stepped up and scored 9 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and American guard Kamaria McDaniel (178-1999, college: Michigan St.) chipped in 16 points. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American swingman Naomi Davenport (180, college: WVU) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds and the former international forward Arielle Gonzalez-Varner (185-1998, college: Austin Peay) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Santurce and five Isabela players scored in double figures.
