BSNF Round 15 (Regular Season): Isabela beat Manati by two after a very close game

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most exciting game of round 15 in the BSNF took place in Isabela. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-best Atenienses (9-5) to eighth ranked Pollitas (4-10) 91-89 on Monday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Atenienses. It was a good game for American forward DeAnna Wilson (188, college: Illinois St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Her fellow American import guard Mikayla Pivec (178-1997, college: Oregon St.) contributed with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American forward Dre'Una Edwards (183, college: Baylor) answered with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for Manati. Despite that victory Isabela went down to ninth position due to points difference. Manati at the other side keeps the second place with five games lost. Isabela are looking forward to face higher ranked Moca (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Manati will play against Hatillo and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in . Fifth ranked Moca (7-7) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 8th ranked Hatillo (5-9) 64-63 in the game for the fifth place. It was a great evening for American forward Asia Taylor (188-1991, college: Louisville) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Hillary Martinez helped adding 12 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Moca's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American guard Adrienne Williams (180-1991, college: Illinois) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds. Newly promoted Moca maintains fifth place with 7-7 record. Hatillo at the other side dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with Lares. Moca will play against bottom-ranked Isabela (#9) on the road in the next round. Hatillo will play against the league's second-placed Manati and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for Cangrejeras (12-2) which hosted in Santurce second-best Atenienses (9-5). First ranked Cangrejeras managed to get a 5-point victory 79-74. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Atenienses. It was an exceptional evening for Shae Kelley who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Dre'Una Edwards came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for Manati in the defeat. Santurce maintains first place with 12-2 record. Loser Atenienses keeps the second position with five games lost. Santurce will meet Carolina (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Manati will play against Hatillo and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 15: San German beat Moca on the road 97-80. San German lost to defending champion Carolina on its own court 74-82. Lares unfortunately lost to Hatillo in a road game 60-73.

Santurce - Manati 79-74

An interesting game for Cangrejeras (12-2) which hosted in Santurce second-best Atenienses (9-5). First ranked Cangrejeras managed to get a 5-point victory 79-74. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Atenienses. Strangely Manati outrebounded Santurce 48-35 including 34 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Shae Kelley (185-1991, college: Minnesota) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. International guard Brianna Jones (177-1997, college: Georgetown) accounted for 10 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Cangrejeras players scored in double figures. American forward Dre'Una Edwards (183, college: Baylor) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international forward India Pagan (185-1999, college: Stony Brook) added 22 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Manati in the defeat. Santurce maintains first place with 12-2 record. Loser Atenienses keeps the second position with five games lost. Santurce will meet Carolina (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Manati will play against Hatillo and hope to secure a win.

Moca - San German 80-97

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Athleticas (5-10) beat on the road 5th ranked Moca (7-7) 97-80 on Saturday. San German looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Sidney Cooks (193-1998, college: Seton Hall) who led the winners and scored 42 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Guard Geovana Rios (168, college: LMU) accounted for 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Four Athleticas players scored in double figures. Forward Asia Taylor (188-1991, college: Louisville) came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 17 rebounds and forward Alexis Jennings (190-1996, college: S.Carolina) added 24 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Moca in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted San German maintains eighth place with 5-10 record. Moca at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. San German will meet higher ranked Lares (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Moca will play against Isabela and hope to secure a win.

Very expected game when 8th ranked Athleticas (5-10) lost to fourth ranked Gigantes (8-5) in San German 74-82 on Sunday. Carolina outrebounded San German 43-27 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Kiara Leslie (183-1995, college: NC State) who led the winners and scored 28 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Her fellow American import swingman Sara Dickey (177-1995, college: Evansville) accounted for 24 points for the winning side. American guard Maddie Nolan (180, college: Colorado) came up with 22 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Ashley Torres (170-1994, college: Highland, KS) added 19 points and 4 steals respectively for San German in the defeat. Four San German players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gigantes have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Newly promoted San German keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Carolina will meet at home league's leader Santurce in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. San German will play against Lares (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Hatillo (5-9) won against at home 6th ranked Lares (5-9) 73-60 on Sunday. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Kristen Spolyar (178-1997, college: Butler) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Danish swingman Okako Adika (183-1996, college: USC) accounted for 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. American guard Juicy Landrum (173-1997, college: Baylor) came up with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and naturalized American guard Ariel Colon (178, college: FIU) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Lares in the defeat. Lares' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hatillo moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Lares. Hatillo will meet at home league's second-placed Manati in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lares will play against San German (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
