The Regular Season in BSNF just ended. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Cangrejeras (13-3) in Santurce on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Montaneras (9-7) 87-82. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Pamela Rosado (165-1986) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and American forward Asia Strong (188-2000, college: Syracuse) who added 21 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Shae Kelley (185-1991, college: Minnesota) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds. Despite that victory Morovis went down to third position due to points difference, which they share with Manati. Santurce at the other side still keeps top place with three games lost.
Important game to mention about took place in Carolina. First ranked Cangrejeras (13-3) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Gigantes (10-6) 66-65 in the fight for the first place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gigantes. The winners were led by American guard Kamaria McDaniel (178-1999, college: Michigan St.) who scored that evening 18 points and Brianna Jones supported her with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Cangrejeras' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Teana Muldrow (188-1995, college: WVU) did not help to save the game for Carolina. Santurce maintains first position with 13-3 record. Defending champion Carolina dropped to the second place with six games lost.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Atenienses (9-7) against seventh ranked Hatillo (6-10) on Wednesday night. Visiting Atenienses were crushed by Hatillo in 96-74. Kristen Spolyar fired 35 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. India Pagan produced 13 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hatillo moved-up to sixth place, which they share with San German and Isabela. Manati lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Morovis.
There were no shocking results in the other games in round 16: bottom-ranked San German won against Lares on the opponent's court 77-71. Isabela managed to outperform Moca in a home game 88-72. Morovis recorded a loss to Carolina on the road 97-82.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 30 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals by Kiara Leslie of Carolina.
Lares - San German 71-77Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked
Athleticas and 8th ranked
Lares had identical 5-10 record. But
Lares were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from San German
77-71 on Thursday night.
