Cangrejeras outrebounded Athleticas 48-35 including 34 on the defensive glass. Cangrejeras looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Shae Kelley (185-1991, college: Minnesota) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 24 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and her fellow American import guard Kamaria McDaniel (178-1999, college: Michigan St.) chipped in 20 points. At the losing side American power forward Sidney Cooks (193-1998, college: Seton Hall) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Ashley Torres (170-1994, college: Highland, KS) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Montaneras' coach rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win.
