Maccabi Ironi Ramat Gan (D1) added to their roster 28-year old American center Akela Maize (196cm-1996, college: NC State). Maize played this summer at Cangrejeras de Santurce in Puerto Rican BSNF. In 21 games just recently she recorded 10.9ppg, 7.3rpg and 1.2bpg. She helped them to win the BSNF title.
Maize is quite experienced player. Maize's career allowed her to visit three different continents, while she played in five different countries. She tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America and of course North America. Maize has played previously professionally also in Bulgaria (Montana), France (La Glacerie), Greece (Esperides) and Spain (Al-Qazeres).
She was voted to Puerto Rican BSNF All-Star Game in 2023.
Maize graduated from North Carolina State University in 2018 and it will be her seventh season as a professional player.
