Shanghai lands Arella Guirantes

Shanghai Baoshan Dahua Swordfish (WCBA) tabbed 27-year old American (has also Puerto Rican passport) 181cm shooting guard Arella Guirantes (college: Rutgers). She started the season at Avenida in Spanish LF Endesa. In 11 games she averaged 9.6ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.6apg. She helped them to make it to the Supercup semifinals. Guirantes also played 6 games in Euroleague where she had 8.0ppg, 3.5rpg and 2.5apg. The last season season she played at Beretta Famila Schio in Italian league.
In 2021 she was drafted by Los Angeles Sparks (WNBA) in second round (22nd overall).
She graduated from Rutgers University and it is her fourth season in pro basketball.
Guirantes also represented Puerto Rico at the FIBA Centrobasket Women's Championship in Irapuato 2025 years ago. Guirantes' was the best scorer at the tournament with almost 32 points per game and she was 4th best passer with over 6 assists per game, while she helped her team to won Gold.
She is a very experienced player. Guirantes has played also professionally in Hungary (Miskolc), Italy, Ukraine (Budivelnyk) and WNBA (LA Sparks and Seattle Storm).
Among many awards her team won Italian Cup in 2024. She was voted to Eurobasket.com All-FIBA Olympic Games Honorable Mention in 2024. Guirantes played also for Texas Tech University for one year.
