Toro is back at VEF Riga, ex Aguada

VEF Riga (LBL) signed 27-year old Puerto Rican international center Arnaldo Toro (203cm-112kg-1997, college: St.John's) for the upcoming 2025-26 season. It is actually his comeback to Riga as he has played here before. He was the best rebounder at Santeros de Aguada in the Puerto Rican BSN league. He managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year. In 25 BSN games just recently, he had 8.3ppg, 9.4rpg, and 1.9apg. Last season, he played at Uniclub Casino Juventus Utenos in the Lithuanian LKL where in 25 games he recorded 6.2ppg and 7.7rpg. Toro also played 2 games in the Basketball Champions League where he averaged 12.0ppg, 11.0rpg, 1.0apg, and 1.5spg.
He has also been a member of the Puerto Rican international program for some years. Toro has regularly played for the Puerto Rican senior team since 2021 and previously for the Under 18 National Team in 2014.
He also represented Puerto Rico at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador (El Salvador) 2 years ago.
Toro has played on three different continents, including Europe, Latin America, and North America. He has played professionally in Finland (Nokia), Holland (Zwolle), and Lithuania.
Among many awards, his team won the Latvian Cup in 2024. Toro was also voted the Eurobasket.com All-Latvian-Estonian Basketball League Import Player of the Year in 2024.
He graduated from St. John's University in 2021 and it will be his fifth season as a professional player. Toro played also for The George Washington University for 4 years.
