BSNF Round 7 (Regular Season): Yauco defeat Monarcas in the closest game of the week

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Monarcas (3-3) to fifth ranked Yauco (3-3) 78-77 in the game for the fifth place. It was a great evening for American forward Asia Strong (188-2000, college: Syracuse) who led her team to a victory scoring 28 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Zaida Gonzalez (175-2003, college: Stony Brook) helped adding 16 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side American center Imani McGee-Stafford (201-1994, college: Texas) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks. Newly promoted Yauco maintains fifth place with 3-3 record, which they share with defeated Monarcas. Yauco's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in to the arena .
Important game to mention about took place in Carolina. Eighth ranked Caguas (2-4) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 7th ranked Gigantes (3-4) 53-51 on Sunday evening. It was an exceptional evening for American center Kai James (196-1995, college: FSU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Alisia Jenkins accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds (made all of her ten free throws !!!). Caguas' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Teana Muldrow (188-1995, college: WVU) came up with 21 points and 7 rebounds for Carolina in the defeat. Newly promoted Caguas maintains eighth place with 2-4 record. Carolina at the other side keeps the seventh position with four games lost. Caguas will play against league's leader Isabela at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Carolina will play against Monarcas (#6) in Juana Diaz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Cangrejeras (4-2) against fourth ranked Moca (3-2) on Saturday night. Visiting Cangrejeras were defeated by Moca in a tough game in Moca 68-77. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cangrejeras. Alexis Jennings fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Shae Kelley produced 18 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Cangrejeras' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Moca maintains fourth place with 3-2 record. Defending champion Santurce dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Hatillo. Moca will meet at home league's second-placed Hatillo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Santurce will play against Manati and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 7 Manati lost to Hatillo on the opponent's court 62-69.

Newly promoted Yauco maintains fifth place with 3-3 record, which they share with defeated Monarcas. Very expected game when 9th ranked Atenienses (1-3) were defeated on the road by second ranked Hatillo (4-2) 69-62 on Saturday. American guard Essence Booker (173-1999, college: UNLV) fired 27 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Danish swingman Okako Adika (183-1996, college: USC) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. The former international forward India Pagan (185-1999, college: Stony Brook) produced 15 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Kiyana McGill-Jefferson (185-2001, college: Louisville) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Manati players scored in double figures. Hatillo maintains second place with 4-2 record behind leader Isabela, which they share with Santurce. Loser Atenienses keeps the ninth position with three games lost. Hatillo will meet Moca (#4) on the road in the next round. Manati will play against Santurce (#3) and hope to win that game.
