Imani McGee-Stafford gets MVP of the Week award for Puerto Rican BSNF (by Hoops Agents)

Experienced American Imani McGee-Stafford (201-C-1994) had a very impressive game in the last week for Monarcas Juana Diaz and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for week 20.
The 31-year old center had a double-double of 25 points and 21 rebounds, while her team beat Leonas (#9, 4-11) 88-80. Monarcas is placed at 6th position in Puerto Rican BSNF. Monarcas is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-9 record. In the team's last game McGee-Stafford had a remarkable 55.0% from 2-point range. She turned to be Monarcas' top player in her first season with the team. Imani McGee-Stafford averages this season 22.6ppg, 16.2rpg and 4.2apg.

The second most remarkable performance in last week's games was young Puerto Rican guard Tayra Melendez (183-G-1993) of Gigantes de Carolina. Melendez impressed basketball fans with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Bad luck as Gigantes lost that game 80-85 to slightly higher-ranked Manati (#3, 10-6). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Carolina still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. Her team's 10-8 record is not bad at all. Melendez is one of the most experienced players at Carolina and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last week was American Quionche Carter (183-G/F) of Pollitas de Isabela (#5). Carter showcased her all-around game by recording 21 points, 12 rebounds (!!!) and 5 assists in the last week. Despite Carter's great performance the Pollitas lost 82-85 to the higher-ranked Santurce (#1, 13-3). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Isabela needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 9 victories and 6 lost games. Carter has a great season in Puerto Rico. After 15 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.7ppg (6th best) and assists with 4.7apg (7th best). She also has 2.2spg and a FGP of 51.0%.
