AEK BC Athens ink Gian Clavell

Gian Clavell

AEK BC Athens (GBL) agreed terms with 32-year-old Puerto Rican international point guard Gian Clavell (193cm-84kg-1993, college: Colorado State). He already started the season at Valcea in Romanian Liga Nationala. In three games, he had very impressive stats: 22.7ppg, 5.0rpg, 6.3apg, and 1.0spg. He also played 2 games in FIBA Europe Cup where he recorded also remarkable stats: 26.5ppg, 3.0rpg, 5.5apg, and 3.0spg. Last season, he played at Coviran Granada (Liga Endesa) in the Spanish league.
Clavell also represented Puerto Rico at the FIBA Olympic Games in Paris (France) last year. During this event he scored an average of 7 ppg and had 3.3 rpg.
He is a very experienced player. His career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in ten different countries. Clavell tasted the life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America and of course North America. He has played professionally in Russia (Avtodor), Spain (Estudiantes), Turkey (Bursaspor and Sakarya), Ukraine (Budivelnyk and Prometey), NBA (Dallas Mavericks and GS Warriors), Puerto Rico (Cangrejeros and Piratas), NBA G League (Texas Legends), Greece (Promitheas) and NBA Summer League (Portland Trail Blazers). His team was regular season runner-up in Puerto Rican League Group A in 2025.
He received several awards, including being named to the Eurobasket.com Latvian-Estonian Basketball League All-Tournament Team and earning a spot on the Eurobasket.com All-EuroCup Honorable Mention in 2023.
Clavell graduated from Colorado State in 2017 and is in his ninth season as a pro player. He also played for Fort Hays Tech Northwest for 2 years.
