The curtains closed Saturday on the 2017 KFC National Basketball League with a finals matchup between rivals Courts Jets and VBCC Warlords. The third place matchup between losing semi-finalists Canaries and Morne Gladiators did not take place as Canaries did not field enough players by the opening tip, giving the Morne the win by default. After defeating the Morne last Wednesday in a semi-final game decided in the final minute, VBCC earned yet another spot in the final against the defending champions. The storied VBCC-Jets rivalry has seen the Jets getting the better of the La Clery club in each of their finals encounters. Saturday's final matchup saw Courts Jets win their 5th consecutive National League championship with a convincing 87-64 victory over VBCC. The onslaught was led by co-finals Most Valuable Player Andre Louison with 25 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals. Keegan Preville was awarded co-MVP for his sterling performance on both the offensive and defensive ends from the quarterfinals through to the final. The 2017 KFC NBL regular season MVP Marcian Calderon led the way for VBCC with 23 points, 14 rebounds.
