On the evening of January 26th, 2019 the St. Lucia Basketball Federation hosted its first ever Basketball Awards under the theme 'A celebration of dedication, achievements and progress'. The awards ceremony objective was to recognize the achievements and support of members of the; basketball, sporting, media and private sector fraternity for their contribution, assistance and dedication to the sport of basketball. The awards covered a number of categories and over a period of time. The evening's Master of Ceremony was Mr. Kendell 'Scady' Eugene and the ceremony commenced with the national anthem and prayer by the assistant secretary Ms. Marlene Emmanuel. Mr. Leslie Collymore graced the attendees with a short yet poignant welcome address re-enforcing the fact that continued, sustained support is the only way to achieve progress and that basketball is bigger than any one person nor should it be left as the responsibility of a few. Guest Speaker, Hon Mrs. Fortuna Belrose (SLOC President) followed with her words of encouragement and advice to the invited guests.

Jerren St. Clair - Most Blocks (unfortunately could not be present as he was not feeling well)
Rahim Auguste - Most Steals & Most Assists Most Rebounds - Marcian Calderon
Most Points - Andre Louison (unable to attend however his brother collected on his behalf Mr.Troy Louison)
2018 Awards
U19 Female Basketballer of the Year - Mia George (award was collected by her sister Rhea as Mia
is currently off island.)
U19 Male Basketballer of the Year - Jean Pierre Tarick Frederick
Senior Male Basketballer of the Year - Troy Louison
2018 MVP Regular Season Commercial League - Troy Louison
Team Awards
Courts Jets - Collected by Mr. Ligorius Marquis
Team of the Year 2018 - 3x3 U19 Female team (Mia George, Jermiah Evariste, Cleo JnBaptiste &
Faith Chitolie). Unfortunately the ladies were unavailable and will receive their award later.
Sponsor Awards - Awards were presented to the following sponsors and acknowledgements were made
for other sponsors or entities who have assisted the SLBF before such as Bank of St. Lucia, St. Lucia
National Lotteries Authority (NLA), Peter & Company Distribution. Other recognized sponsors however
unable to attend FLOW & LUCELEC.

Volunteers are a major part of successfully hosting events and for the last few years the BILD volunteers
in particular Stanious Charles and Dania have assisted tirelessly the years and as such the SLBF saw it
fitting to provide them with a token of our appreciation. This award was collected by Ms. Mary Wilfred.
Other persons or organizations with an integral role are officials/referees, coaches, technical committee
and management teams and as a result they were recognized and received a token of appreciation as

Technical Committee/ Management collected by Mr. Anthony Lamontagne, head of the technical committee.A lifetime achievement award in honor of his dedication and outstanding performance to the sport of basketball was presented to Mr. Matthew 'Fudge' Raphael. Unfortunately Mr. Raphael is out of state and on his behalf his sister Ms. Carol Raphael accepted. Special announcement was also made that the coaching award moving forward would be named The Matthew 'Fudge' Raphael award.Special award was also presented to the General Secretary Ms. Velica Augustin in recognition of her outstanding dedication to the sport of basketball.The evening was closed off with a presentation of videos from the activities and events hosted by the SLBF and some light refreshments.
