Teachers school M&C in CLB final, Fire Service cold shoulder 3rd place game

The 2019 Commercial League Basketball competition came to a close on Wednesday 13th November at the Beausejour Indoor Facility. New Champions were crowned in this year's competition, when Saint Lucia Teachers Union playing in their first ever final emerged victorious defeating the M&C Group of Companies 63 - 58, in a hard fought but exciting match up. M&C Group of Companies jumped to a slender 19 - 16 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, the Saint Lucia Teachers Union responded with an 18 - 14 run to close the half marginally ahead 34 - 33. However, in the third quarter M&C Group of Companies outscored their opponents 15 - 13 to enjoy a one point cushion going into the final quarter, having closed the third 48 - 47. Saint Lucia Teachers Union was able to seal the initiative in the final quarter with a 16 - 10 run to close off the game 63 - 58 and with it their first ever Championship. For Saint Lucia Teachers Union, Tristan James 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals, Lance Prospere had 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists, and Simeon Hippolyte 16 points 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The M&C Group of Companies were led by Andre Louisson 22 points, 8 rebounds, Troy Louisson 22 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. The Player of the Game and MVP of the Tournament Award went to Tristan James of the Saint Lucia Teachers Union.
Meanwhile, the Third Place Play Off Match between Fire Service and Inland Revenue Department never materialised as Fire Service failed to show up for the encounter. As a result Inland Revenue Department was presented with the Third Place Trophy.
