The Houston Comets posted their second win in the season and just the 12th victory in the two last years beating the Seattle Storm 68:60 at home. Tina Thompson led the charge with 21 points and 10 boards for the Comets. Michelle Snow pulled down 16 boards for the hosts who outrebounded the Storm 46:30. Lauren Jackson scored 18 points for the Storm in defeat. The Comets led by 4 points at halftime and spurred ahead right after the long break. They outscored the visitors 12:5 to open the third stanza and stretched the gap to 11 points. Seattle fought bravely and cut the deficit to 4 points with under 2 minutes remaining. Tina Thompson replied with a three-pointer and then the home side knocked down 6 out of seven free throws to ensure the victory. Sancho Lyttle (193-C-83, college: Houston) ended up with 2 points and 2 rebounds for just 3 minutes in the court.
On June 7th Indiana held off Houston 84:75 at the Conseco Fieldhouse. Katie Douglas produced 20 points to propel the Fever to the 4th win. Tammy Sutton-Brown added 19 points and Tan White had 15 as the Fever kept winning even without Tamika Catchings. The five All-Star is still recovering after the last season Achilles injury. The Houston Comets meanwhile are still looking for their best game as they were upset for the 7th time in the season. Tina Thompson had 19 points in a losing case. Sancho Lyttle finished the night with 4 points, 2 assists and 1 rebound.
